𝐒𝐏𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐒 | Medals or Nostalgia?: Sayanistas Choose Both in Sayans & Friends Pickleball Clash

Sayanistas Reunite, Rallies Ignite.

Old faces met across a new court as Sayanistas reunited through pickleball, transforming the Sayans & Friends Tournament into more than just a battle for medals, held at The Courtroom. New Buswang, Kalibo, Aklan, on August 15-16, 2026.

For the alumni, the tournament served as a chance to reconnect with familiar faces while creating new memories beyond their school days. The court became a meeting place where old friendships were renewed and competition brought everyone together.

But beneath the friendly atmosphere was a serious fight for the podium.

In the Intermediate & Advanced Mixed Doubles, April Lyn Alba and Jeril Panado grabbed the championship. while Mae Lynn Tordecillas and Dhudz Quinto finished first runner-up. Bianca Manikan and Brahms Marlowe Manikan completed the podium as second runner-up.

The women's division was also a battle to remember, with Trishalin Palmani and Yani Barrios taking the crown. In the men's side, Jeril Panado and Gibrian Prado powered their way to the top

But the action did not stop there.

In the Novice division, Hannah Grace Teodosio and Justine De Jose ruled Mixed Doubles, while April Lyn Alba and Bianca Miranda claimed the women's championship. Lochinvar Aquila and Gibrian Prado also took home the men's title.

The Beginner division brought even more excitement as Dorothy Rovero and Kyle Aranas won Mixed Doubles. Jewel Franco and Dorothy Rovero captured the women's crown, while Albert Roy David and Jether Jeff Palmon came out on top in the men's division.

Meanwhile, Erich Mae Galvan and Manuel Pio Mayor finished as champions in the Students-Genderless category.

Medals were up for grabs-but this tournament was about more than just winning.

Following the Sayans & Friends Tournament, SMASH-TEMBER 2026 is set to bring Sayanistas alumni, students, teachers, and players together on September 11-13 at the RSHS VI Multipurpose Covered Court.

The Sayans & Friends Tournament, which commenced on August 15, 2026, brought together Sayanistas and friends in the spirit of athletics and sportsmanship. It became a meaningful opportunity for mga taga-Sayans and friends of the community to reconnect through sports, athleticism, and a shared love for their alma mater.

Last August 22, 2026, the organizers returned to the Regional Science High School for Region VI to donate a portion of the tournament's proceeds which amounted to ₱25,000. The said amount has been turned over to the RSHS VI Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG) to support the development of the RSHS VI Multi-Purpose Court, with two (2) pickleball courts and one (1) volleyball court. This generous donation brings us one step closer to turning our vision into reality as the SSLG continues its efforts to raise funds and sponsorships.

On behalf of the entire RSHS VI community and the RSHS VI SSLG family, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Sayans & Friends Tournament Organizing Committee, sponsors, and players for their generosity and for continuing to support their alma mater.

Whether students, alumni, faculty and staff, or friends of Sayans, we continue to find ways to come together and work hand in hand to give back to a community that has brought us together.
