Ang Kasarian ba ay Mahalaga?

Isang tanong na tila walang katapusang sagot. Ipinapakita ng larawang ito kung paanong madalas idinidikta ng lipunan ang ating kinabukasan batay sa kasarian. Sa estereotipikal na pananaw, may mga gawaing para lamang sa lalaki o babae. Ngunit sa kabila nito, dumarami ang lumalaban sa ganitong paniniwala—mga taong pinipiling maging tapat sa kanilang sarili.

Hindi kasarian ang sukatan ng lakas o kakayahan, kundi ang tapang at katapatan sa sariling pagkatao. Sa mundong madalas nagtatalaga ng hangganan at pamantayan, ang tunay na lakas ay ang kakayahang maging totoo. Tulad ng kasabihang, “Walang Kasarian ang Barako,” ang kumpiyansa sa sarili ang tunay na nagpapalaya sa bawat isa.

Blocking Stereotypes, Spiking Equality

Benold Casanova, Allany Aquino, Salem Delos Santos, and Benhur Bang-i, grade 10 volleyball varsity players playing a game of girls vs boys. In their intense rally, the boys leap to spike the ball while the girls rise together to block it. Because even sports aren’t defined by one’s gender. When students block stereotypes, they end up spiking through the net of bias. The court becomes more than a place of competition, but one where power and teamwork know no bounds. One’s skill, determination, and effort are all the same, regardless of who’s across the net. Fostering equality starts when students spike with no hesitation.

These varsity players not only inspire the team, but also their classmates. They show that their capabilities are limitless no matter their gender. Because influence is not preceded by gender, but by their power and courage to show equality. As students unite their voices, they set the ball of change in motion.
