🇯🇵-🇵🇭 "Grassroots Double"
Philippines had a great year in Japan's College and High School tournaments. The UAAP champs DLSU captured the World University Basketball Series while FEU jr Tamaraws U16 won the B. B.LEAGUE（Japan Professional Basketball League）U16 challenge cup.
DLSU swept their way to the title making them the second team from the Philippines to win the title.
FEU on the other hand beat 3 of the 4 best teams of B. League U15 teams of 2024.

P.S: I hope you still out here guys and I'll be posting from time to time some important updates on ASEAN basketball. 😄

“5x5 Day 1”
- The hosts told Gilas that this is the official practice facility for basketball. Outdoor court amidst this heat.
- Some team officials are helping with court moisture control due to lack of personnel.
- The basketball court taraflex flooring needs to be flattened mid game due to kinks.
- Some players got hurt probably due to the flooring, Truong(bad fall) and Oftana (strain).
- Martin Breunig arrived from Germany to join Thailand.

Players safety should be a priority. Without air conditioning and poor taraflex flooring installation. It would be very dangerous to play in high level basketball.

🇰🇭 “Hollow Victory”
I have to apologize to my Cambodian friends but I need to address the “elephant in the room”.
A hollow victory is where someone wins something in name, but are seen not to have gained anything by winning. There is nothing wrong with it and it is within the boundaries of the rules of the games they hosted.. But what does Cambodia Basketball get from it?
With practically no basketball culture to back up the piece of jewelry around your neck is to say the least, futile. I am not singling out Cambodia for this practice as other countries like the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam have utilized heritage and naturalized players to reinforce their teams in the present and past.
Ethnicity and Sports is a delicate issue few will understand. In the modern world where migration is a thing, Representing a country is no longer just a birth right. An athlete can decide which people and culture he or she can represent by virtue of his or her affiliation and not the $ offered to them.
I guess by now people are realizing winning the Sea games Gold Medal is not a measure who has the best basketball culture in the region, but merely who has the best Investment.
