Filipino Martial Arts (FMA) is the collective term for the various fighting systems and styles developed in the Philippines, deeply rooted in the country's history, culture, and warrior traditions. It is also widely known by its main regional names: Arnis, Eskrima, and Kali.
Key Features
- Weapons-First Approach: Unlike many other martial arts, FMA usually starts training with weapons (rattan sticks, knives, swords, etc.) before moving to empty-hand combat. The idea is that weapons are just extensions of the body, and techniques learned with weapons can be applied without them.
- Versatility: It teaches how to use not just traditional weapons, but also everyday objects like umbrellas, pens, or chairs for self-defense.
- Combat Ranges: It covers three distances:- Largo (long-range)
- Medio (medium-range)
- Corto (close-range)
- Fluid Movement: Techniques are continuous and flowing, often using circular or triangular footwork to gain advantage. Drills like sinawali (weaving patterns) help build coordination and reflexes.
Main Names & Regional Differences
Name Region Origin Focus
Arnis Luzon From Spanish arnΓ©s (armor) National sport & martial art; more structured, sports-oriented training
Eskrima Visayas From Spanish esgrima (fencing) Practical combat, close-range fighting, traditional warfare skills
Kali Mindanao & internationally From kalis (blade/sword) Blade-centric, influenced by tribal and Islamic warrior culture
Common Styles & Techniques
- Arnis de Mano: Stick fighting, single or double sticks.
- Mano-Mano / Suntukan: Empty-hand combat β punches, kicks, elbows, knees, locks, and grappling.
- Dumog: Filipino wrestling and ground fighting.
- Yaw-Yan: Also called "Dance of Death," similar to Muay Thai but with unique kicking and striking motions.
- Sikaran: An ancient style that focuses mainly on kicking techniques.
Cultural Significance
FMA is not just about fighting β it is part of Filipino identity. It was used to resist foreign invaders, passed down through families, and today it is recognized as the National Martial Art and Sport of the Philippines. It is also popular worldwide because of its practicality for self-defense and its influence on modern combat systems.
Pugay & God bless Philippines!!!

Pugay & thank you JUEGO TODO
More power & God bless
To our valued international partners and supporters,
We would like to extend our sincere gratitude for the overwhelming interest, trust, and eagerness to be part of Juego Todo from different parts of the world. Your passion and belief in what we are building truly mean a lot to us.
At this time, we humbly ask for your understanding as we are not yet in a position to fully engage in official international operations. We are currently finalizing important legal processes and documentation to ensure that everything is properly structured, protected, and aligned with our long-term vision.
This step is necessary to safeguard the integrity of Juego Todo, protect all stakeholders, and establish a strong and unified global standard for the sport. We want to make sure that when we officially open our doors internationally, we do so with clarity, fairness, and legitimacy for everyone involved.
Please know that this is not a rejection, but simply a matter of proper timing. We deeply value your interest and fully intend to work with you once everything is in place.
We ask for your patience and continued support as we complete this important phase. Rest assured, we are building something that will be worth the wait.
Thank you for standing with us.
With respect and appreciation,
Ferdinand Munsayac
