The Senate has unanimously adopted Senate Resolution No. 472, honoring the life, legacy, and outstanding contributions of late student-athlete Rene Clert "Bobet" Baterbonia.

Sponsored by Sen. Robinhood Padilla and co-sponsored by several senators, the resolution recognizes Bobet's inspiring journey from Talacogon, Agusan del Sur to becoming a Palarong Pambansa Most Valuable Player, ASEAN School Games gold medalist, and Ateneo Blue Eagles player.

In his sponsorship speech, Padilla said Bobet's greatest legacy was not only his athletic achievements but also the inspiration he gave to young Filipinos through his hard work, discipline, and determination to rise above humble beginnings.

The Senate also extended its condolences to the family of Divine Adili, Bobet's Ateneo teammate who also lost his life in the June 8 team-building tragedy in Dipaculao, Aurora. A copy of the adopted resolution was presented to Bobet's parents, Rene Sr. and Rovelyn Baterbonia, during the Senate session.

From the PBA, to the UAAP, to the Palarong Pambansa, these players became more than just athletes. They became faces of Philippine basketball, inspiring the next generation to dream bigger and play harder.
