Meet JO1 ROWEL B. TORRES, a dedicated member of the BJMP Metal Dragons who has been serving the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology since 2022 and took on the challenge of dragon boat paddling in February 2026.
With determination both on and off the water, JO1 Torres has proven that discipline, strength, and perseverance extend far beyond the racecourse. As a member of the Metal Dragons, he was part of the team that secured 1st Runner-Up during the 1st Leg of the Philippine Dragon Boat Regatta 2026, showcasing endurance, teamwork, and unwavering commitment in every stroke. ๐ฃโโ๏ธ๐

For this weekโs special feature, meet JO2 Joan O Campos, one of the dedicated members of the BJMP Metal Dragons who keeps the teamโs rhythm, timing, and energy alive on the boat. She joined the BJMP on July 16, 2018 and has been serving as a drummer since April 1, 2025. A Criminologist, JO2 Campos graduated from the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Marikina (PLMar), Batch 2016.

A creative at heart, JO2 Campos has a passion for drawing and is now pursuing her growing interest in videography, particularly in creating cinematic videos. ๐ฅ Beyond these, she also enjoys joining fun runs, playing the guitar, and hiking, showing her love for creativity, music, fitness, and the outdoors. ๐โโ๏ธ๐ธ๐ฅพ
From keeping the beat on the boat to capturing moments through a lens, strumming a guitar, hitting the trails, and taking on the challenge of a fun run, she proves that the Dragon Boat family is made up of individuals with diverse talents, roles, and passions.

BJMP-NCR Recognizes Metal Dragons Athletes on 35th Anniversary
Representatives of the BJMP METAL DRAGONS who proudly competed in the Changwon International Dragon Boat Competition in South Korea, as well as a member of the Elite Womenโs Team who represented the team in the international competition in Macau, were recognized and awarded by the BJMPโNational Capital Region (BJMP-NCR) for their outstanding achievements and contribution to the Bureau. Their participation in international dragon boat competitions showcased not only their athletic excellence but also the discipline, teamwork, and dedication of BJMP personnel on the global stage.
The recognition formed part of the celebration of the 35th Anniversary of the BJMP-NCR, honoring personnel who brought pride and distinction to the organization through their remarkable accomplishments. The awarding ceremony was graced by the Chief of the BJMP, JDIR EFREN A NEMEรO and Regional Director of the Jail Bureau, JCSUPT BABY NOEL P MONTALVO, TLPE, who led in recognizing the athletes for their dedication and service. The achievement of the BJMP METAL DRAGONS serves as an inspiration to fellow personnel, demonstrating that beyond the walls of the jail, BJMP personnel continue to embody excellence, camaraderie, and the spirit of service through sports.

PADDLER OF THE WEEK | JO1 John Vincent Sajor๐๐
Meet JO1 John Vincent Sajor, a dedicated member of the BJMP Metal Dragons who has been serving the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology since 2019 and took on the challenge of dragon boat paddling in February 2026.
With determination both on and off the water, JO1 Sajor made his mark as a Stroke Side member and He was also part of the team that secured 1st Runner-Up during the 2nd Leg Regatta, demonstrating discipline, endurance, teamwork, and commitment in every stroke.
Beyond the boat, he brings valuable professional skills to the Bureau, particularly in comprehensive nursing care, HIV counseling, and tuberculosis case management. He is also a PNLE passer and a graduate of Metropolitan Medical CenterโCollege of Arts, Sciences and Technology, Class of 2015.

Coach Carl Mendoza, an international Dragon Boat coach and instructor and one of the coaches of the BJMP METAL DRAGONS Dragon Boat Team, together with JSUPT LINO M SORIANO, Team Founder, and JCINSP ARJAY M CUASAY, Team Captain, paid a courtesy call on the City Jail Warden of the Mandaluyong City Jail Male Dormitory, JCINSP DAVID M JAMBALOS. The visit served as an opportunity to strengthen the partnership between the BJMP METAL DRAGONS and the facility's leadership while highlighting the team's commitment to excellence, discipline, and sportsmanship.
During the meeting, the delegation discussed the team's ongoing programs, future competitions, and initiatives aimed at promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and camaraderie among BJMP personnel. The courtesy call also underscored the unwavering support of the Mandaluyong City Jail Male Dormitory in advancing the BJMP METAL DRAGONS' mission of bringing pride and honor to the Bureau through outstanding performances in local and international dragon boat competitions.

She joined the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in 2024 and became part of the BJMP Metal Dragon Boat Team in March 2026, embracing the values of teamwork, perseverance, and excellence both in public service and in the sport of dragon boating.
A 2016 college graduate, JO1 Lastimoso successfully passed the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET), demonstrating her commitment to professional growth and excellence. Her teaching skills and computer literacy further reflect her versatility, dedication, and willingness to serveโqualities that continue to strengthen the team on and off the water.

He joined the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in 2021 and has remained committed to both public service and the sport of dragon boating. As a pioneer member of the team since 2024, he continues to exemplify perseverance, teamwork, and excellence.
A graduate of Western Mindanao State University in 2014, JO1 Haron is a licensed Nurse. Beyond his profession, he is highly skilled in Pencak Silat, reflecting his discipline, strength, and determinationโqualities that have greatly contributed to the teamโs success both on and off the water.

A graduate of College of St. Catherine Quezon City in 2018, he holds both NAPOLCOM and Criminologist eligibilities. Beyond his profession, JO1 Valleser is a man of many talents, with skills in drawing, acting, and dancing, showcasing creativity, versatility, and teamwork on and off the water.
