DISCRIMINATION STORY - Long Post
Exactly 2 years ago, my kids and I went to a well-known amusement spot inside a popular mall.
My AUsome son has always loved one particular ride—something he was previously allowed to enjoy with a guardian. This time, a kind staff initially assisted us, but said he wasn’t allowed. So I respectfully asked for the manager, hoping for a little understanding.
Instead, I was met with hostility. The tone, the approach—it felt confrontational from the start. I tried to explain that my son had been allowed before (and take note, there was no line, no one waiting), but I barely got the chance.
When I started documenting the situation, he tapped my phone—causing it to fall and crack—then walked away.
We brought it to the mall admin. Despite how clear everything felt in that moment, nothing came out of it. Multiple follow-ups with both the mall and the amusement management… still nothing.
This is the reality many AUsome families face. Not just policies—but lack of awareness, empathy, and accountability.
Our kids deserve better. 💙

Behind this door is “Marcus” (not his real name), currently having his Developmental Pediatric consultation.
These days, getting a Dev Ped check-up isn’t easy—it’s expensive and booking a slot can be very challenging.
