LAMBIGIT PICKLEBALL TOURNAMENT
BEGINNER & NOVICE CATEGORY GUIDELINES
🏓 BEGINNER CATEGORY
Intended for players who are new to pickleball or have limited playing experience.
A Beginner player generally:
Is still developing basic serving, returning, rallying, and volley skills.
Has limited experience in organized pickleball tournaments.
Can sustain only short rallies and is still learning court positioning and game strategy.
Does not regularly compete or play at novice/intermediate level.
🏓 NOVICE CATEGORY
Intended for players who have regular recreational or tournament experience and have progressed beyond the Beginner level.
A Novice player generally:
Can consistently execute serves, returns, groundstrokes, and volleys.
Can sustain rallies with reasonable control.
Understands basic court positioning, partner movement, and kitchen play.
Has participated in recreational or organized pickleball competitions.
May demonstrate skills approaching an intermediate level but is not yet considered advanced/competitive-level.
⚖️ PLAYER CLASSIFICATION & FAIR PLAY
Players shall register according to their actual playing ability, not merely their years of experience.
The Tournament Committee may consider a player's previous tournament results, playing history, coach/club assessment, peer assessment, or other available skill-rating information when determining eligibility.
A player who is clearly above the intended level of a category may be reclassified to a higher category or denied entry to protect competitive balance.
For doubles, when partners have different skill levels, the higher-skilled player's level shall determine the appropriate category.
The Tournament Committee reserves the final authority to approve, reclassify, or decline entries when necessary to ensure fair competition.
Players are expected to observe sportsmanship, honesty, and fair play in declaring their category.
🚫 NO SANDBAGGING
Players must not intentionally register in a lower category to gain a competitive advantage.
The goal is not simply to win—it is to provide fair, competitive, enjoyable, and development-oriented games for all participants.
