It’s joyful to receive an award during Recognition Day, Moving-Up, or Graduation Day. However, awards are not the true measure of a student’s character. A respectful and obedient child, a generous sibling, someone who is pleasant to be with and always dependable as a friend, and a student who shows respect to teachers—these are the people who are remembered as those who will truly succeed in life.

I’m not saying you shouldn’t strive for or aim to achieve honors. Awards are evidences that you are a task completer. That is great! But if you don’t attain them through academics or in school, perhaps you will find success outside the classroom and in the real challenges of life—not only as a student, but as a person.
