Our heartfelt thanks to Sonny Sicat, Executive Director of Philippine Heritage International - Filnation, and Pao Serrano for ensuring everything arrived safely in Pampanga.
A look behind the equipment:
The Antiwave goals were shipped all the way from Australia, each valued at around $2,000 USD. Through the dedication of their nonprofit organization, funds were raised to procure four goals two years ago. Today, these goals will help power the launch of the nationwide Water Polo League Philippines, something their supporters can truly be proud of.
The water polo balls were generously donated by Santa Clara University, where Mr. Sicatβs son and daughter both competed in Division 1 water polo. Through their coach, more than 50 balls have been donated over the years and shipped door to door. Included as well are yellow water polo caps from Temple City Aquatic Club, a local club from their community.
The orange folding goals, typically used for football/soccer, are being repurposed as a practical and cost-effective training tool, perfect for introducing beginners to the sport.
The donated girlsβ swimsuits reflect a deeper purpose: breaking barriers to entry in aquatics. By providing these for free, more young athletes are given the opportunity to try, train, and thrive in water polo.
They have placed their full trust in the partnership with Swim League Philippines as we launch this initiative and for that, we are truly grateful.
From Manila to the United States, preparations are in full swing for demonstration matches, technical workshops, and the upcoming demonstration season.
