DELA PAZ DOMINATES LATE TO EDGE DE KOENIGSWARTER IN THRILLING FINAL MATCH OF THE DAY
In the day’s closing and featured match, Abby Dela Paz outlasted Stephanie de Koenigswarter in a grueling three-set battle, claiming a hard-earned victory with a final score of 6-4, 5-6(5), 10-3.
The opening set was already a test of endurance right from the start. Dela Paz drew first blood to take an early 1-0 lead, before both players traded games and points evenly for the rest of the set. Every rally was long, exhausting, and tightly contested, such that this single set alone lasted nearly one hour of continuous play. Dela Paz proved slightly more consistent when it mattered most, eventually breaking through to secure the opening set 6-4.
The second set followed a dramatic pattern. Just like the first, Dela Paz was the first to put points on the board. However, de Koenigswarter soon found her rhythm, pulling ahead by two games at several stages and eventually establishing a 5-3 lead, putting her just one game away from leveling the match. Dela Paz refused to fold, mounting a steady comeback to draw level at 5-all and force a decisive tiebreak. The tiebreak was tightly fought early on, with both players exchanging points to stay even at 3-3. From there, de Koenigswarter took full control of the pace, winning four of the next five points to take the tiebreak 7-5 and claim the second set 6-5(5), sending the match into a deciding super tiebreak.
The final super tiebreak became a showcase of Dela Paz’s absolute dominance. She hit her stride immediately, unleashing powerful shots and clean winners to race to a commanding 7-0 lead. de Koenigswarter finally got on the scoreboard to narrow the gap to 7-2, but Dela Paz kept her foot on the gas, pushing further ahead to 9-2. de Koenigswarter managed to earn one more point to make it 9-3, but it was too little too late, as Dela Paz closed out the match comfortably at 10-3 to seal the overall victory.
Final Score: Abby Dela Paz def. Stephanie de Koenigswarter | 6-4, 5-6(5), 10-3

YU OUTLASTS PASCUAL IN THREE-SET THRILLER; DROPSHOTS AND COMPOSURE SEAL THE WIN
On the adjacent court, Sharlene Yu survived a grueling three-set battle to defeat Aya Pascual, posting a hard-earned victory with a final score of 6-3, 5-6(2), 10-8.
Yu seized control early in the opening set. Both players engaged in long, testing rallies from the baseline, but Yu’s perfectly executed drop shots proved to be her most effective weapon, repeatedly catching Pascual out of position. Further hampering Pascual’s game was her inconsistent serving, which gave Yu numerous easy opportunities to dictate play. Yu capitalized on her advantages well, wrapping up the first set comfortably at 6-3.
The second set saw a dramatic turnaround as Pascual finally found her rhythm. Her serving improved significantly, allowing her to hold her ground and trade powerful blows and long rallies with Yu. The set remained tight all the way to the finish, ending deadlocked at 5 games apiece and forcing a tiebreak. This time, Pascual took full command, winning the tiebreak 7-2 to claim the set 6-5(2) and level the match.
The deciding super tiebreak was a close, tense affair. However, as the points piled up, Pascual began to show signs of impatience and frustration, leading to unforced errors that cost her crucial leads. Though visibly exhausted from the long encounter, Yu remained calm and composed throughout. She weathered the pressure, took advantage of her opponent’s mistakes, and held her focus until the very end to close out the match with a hard-fought 10-8 victory.
Final Score: Sharlene Yu def. Aya Pascual | 6-3, 5-6(2), 10-8

MARTY PULLS OFF MIRACLE COMEBACK, EDGES CO IN DOUBLE TIEBREAK THRILLER
In a contest filled with dramatic twists, grueling long rallies, and relentless fight, Quint Marty staged two stunning comebacks to defeat Jonathan Co in a hard-fought battle, closing the match with a final score of 6-5(6), 6-5(2).
The opening set was tightly contested from the start, with neither player able to pull away comfortably, until the score stood deadlocked at 5 games apiece, sending the set into a tiebreak.
Co seized full control early in the tiebreak, surging ahead 6-2. But Marty refused to fold, chasing down every ball and winning crucial points to erase the deficit. He fought back to level the tiebreak at 6-all, triggering the win-by-two rule, before eventually pulling away to claim the tiebreak 8-6, and the opening set 6-5(6).
The second set followed a familiar pattern: Co raced to a commanding 5-2 advantage, looking poised to force a decider or level the match. Yet again, Marty showed immense resilience, chipping away at the lead and fighting his way back to tie the set at 5 games all, forcing another tiebreak. This time, Marty took command from the very start. Exhausted from the non-stop pace and grueling, extended rallies throughout the match, Co could no longer keep up. Marty dominated the decisive tiebreak, winning it 7-2 to seal the victory.
Co gave everything he had and fought until he had nothing left in the tank, but Marty’s incredible poise under pressure and refusal to lose proved the difference in an unforgettable contest.
Final Score: Quint Marty def. Jonathan Co | 6-5(6), 6-5(2)

YESTERDAY'S HIGHLIGHTS
Experience vs. Youth & Power
The young, well-trained competitor came out swinging with great strength and intensity. But the veteran’s wide range of skills, precise touch, and deadly drop shots completely shifted the momentum.
When all was said and done, experience proved victorious over raw power.
