A proud Igorot from Kadaclan, Barlig, Mountain Province, Israel "Golden Boy" Ekid once again brought honor to the Cordilleras and the Philippines after winning the 70-kilogram Lightweight Championship in the East vs. West (EVW) Armwrestling SEA Qualifier and King of the Table Southeast Asia 2026 held in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia on June 20–21.

Ekid dominated the lightweight division and defeated his South Korean opponent in the finals to claim the crown in one of the biggest arm wrestling competitions in Southeast Asia.

Known in the arm wrestling community as "E-Kid" and "Golden Boy," Ekid has steadily built a reputation as one of the Philippines' top arm wrestlers. Prior to his latest triumph, he represented the country in international competitions, including the prestigious SEA Cup Unfinished Business 2024, where he competed against some of Southeast Asia's strongest pullers.

Ekid was among the four members of the Igorot Arm Machines who represented the Philippines in Malaysia. Joining him were Junuel Fianza, Abraham Kerchaten Jr., and Jan Marc Fianza, who all earned their spots through local qualifying competitions.

The tournament attracted elite athletes from across the globe, including competitors from Russia, Vietnam, Thailand, South Korea, Indonesia, China, Sweden, India, Singapore, and the Philippines, making Ekid's victory even more remarkable.

His latest international title adds to the growing list of achievements of Cordilleran athletes who continue to excel in combat and strength sports. The victory also highlights the determination, discipline, and fighting spirit that have become synonymous with Igorot athletes on the world stage.

From the mountains of Kadaclan, Barlig to the international arm wrestling arena, Israel Ekid has proven that strength, perseverance, and pride in one's roots can take a Cordilleran to the top of the world.
