ALMOST HAD IT: QCA Jaguars fall short against LSQC spikers in straight sets
Quezon City Academy Foundation, Inc. (QCAFI) Jaguars Boys’ Volleyball Team took to the court on Sunday, September 7, 2025, facing off against Lourdes School Quezon City (LSQC) in the Athletic and Sports Association of Private Schools (ASAPS) Volleyball Tournament, held at UST Angelicum Quezon City, falling in straight sets 18-25, 17-25.
The first set began in QCA’s favor, as the Jaguars jumped to a 7–4 lead that energized their bench and the crowd. However, LSQC quickly responded with three straight points to tie the game at 7-all, before taking control with a 10–7 advantage.
QCA called a timeout to regroup and answered with two quick points of their own, sparking hopes of a momentum swing. The teams traded rallies, blocks, and powerful hits with QCA answering back with another pair of points, but from there LSQC found their rhythm. The Lourdes spikers dominated the remainder of the set, closing it out 25–18. Drawing first blood in the set.
The second set told a different story, as fatigue slowly began to weigh on the Jaguars after their intense opening rally. LSQC seized the momentum right away, racing to a 7–3 start behind sharp serves and quick strikes that tested QCA’s defense. The Jaguars scrambled to keep pace, showing flashes of energy with strong digs and a few timely points, but Lourdes’ composure kept them firmly in control.
As the set wore on, LSQC widened the gap, extending their lead to 17–8. The Jaguars, though clearly exhausted, refused to back down diving for balls, bodies on the floor, pure hustle, and fighting for every rally. Their efforts sparked short bursts of momentum, but each time QCA seemed ready to rally, LSQC answered with precision attacks that silenced the comeback.
By the time the score reached 20–12 in favor of Lourdes, the uphill climb looked daunting. Still, QCA pushed forward, clawing their way to 14 points with grit and determination. The Jaguars tried to fuel a late push, earning cheers from their bench and crowd, but LSQC’s disciplined play left little room for error. Closing with power and control, Lourdes sealed the second set 25–17, clinching the match in straight sets.
Though the scoreboard read 0–2, the Jaguars proved they could challenge a tough opponent like LSQC. With valuable lessons from this matchup, QCA’s boys’ volleyball team remains motivated to bounce back stronger in the games ahead.

|| GOOD START TOUGH FINISH: QCA Lady Jaguars Volleyball Squad pushes LSQC to three sets, came up short in ASAPS opening campaign
QCA Lady Jaguars Volleyball Team took the court of UST Angelicum Quezon City for their ASAPS Volleyball Tournament opening matchup against Lourdes School Quezon City (LSQC). In a spirited battle, the Jaguars captured the opening set with poise and energy, but LSQC regrouped to claim the next two sets and secure a 2–1 victory (17–25, 25–17, 25–12), Sunday, September 7, 2025.
The first set showcased the Jaguars at their best. With LSQC serving first, QCA immediately set the tone by turning defense into offense. Their blocking at the net stood out as the key factor, shutting down multiple LSQC attacks and forcing their opponents to scramble.
Backed by confident serves, strong receptions, and quick block reflexes, the Jaguars steadily built their lead. Crisp ball movement and hustle plays kept the momentum on their side, and their composure in long rallies paid off. With the crowd cheering them on, QCA closed the frame 25–17, grabbing the all-important 1–0 lead.
But as the match progressed, the Jaguars struggled to maintain their defensive wall. In the second set, LSQC adjusted their attacks, spreading the ball and forcing QCA into longer rallies.
The Jaguars, already showing signs of fatigue, could no longer close the gaps at the net as effectively. LSQC capitalized, breaking through the block and finding open spots on the floor. Despite QCA’s effort to fight back, Lourdes pulled away late and secured the set, 25–17, tying the match.
The third and deciding set belonged firmly to LSQC. Once again starting with the serve, Lourdes immediately pressed the attack and built an early cushion. The Jaguars worked tirelessly to keep up, but exhaustion limited their blocking presence, which had been their greatest weapon in the first set. With QCA unable to slow down their spikers, LSQC controlled the tempo and closed out the match with a commanding 25–12 win.
Though the result ended in a 1–2 loss, the Jaguars girls displayed grit, teamwork, and flashes of dominance at the net. With more matches ahead in the ASAPS Volleyball Tournament, they remain motivated to sharpen their game and bounce back stronger.

|| LOST IN TRANSLATION: Hunters firepower spills Jaguars’ ISAAL debut with straight sweep sets, 2-0
New Era High School (NEHS) Hunters dominated and caged the Quezon City Academy (QCA) Jaguars, shattering their opening campaign with a decisive 2-0 sweep (25-8, 25-12) in the ISAAL Volleyball Boys Tournament Competitive Division, held at SB Kingspoint Park on August 19, 2025, Tuesday.
NEHS wasted no time asserting control, jumping to an early 10-0 lead off sharp serves and airtight defense. QCA Jaguars managed to get on the board via a service error but quickly fell behind as NEHS continued to overwhelm them, stretching the gap to 16-1.
Though the Jaguars briefly found their lost rhythm midway through the set, NEHS never let up, sealing the opener with a commanding 25-8 win.
Determined to bounce back, QCA opened the second set with the first serve and a renewed sense of urgency. They showed flashes of resilience, sparking a four-point run that energized their supporters.
However, NEHS quickly regained momentum, dismantling QCA’s defenses and building a comfortable 21-11 cushion heading into the final stretch and eventually closing the set 25-12 to complete the sweep.
Despite the tough loss, both teams showed mutual respect at the end of the match.
For QCA, the defeat serves as a hard lesson in consistency, connection, and composure, while NEHS proved why they remain one of the contenders to watch for in this year’s tournament.

|| JAGUAR PRIDE SOARS AT ISAAL: Arias leads the charge with bronze win
The Quezon City Academy (QCA) Jaguars showed grit, sportsmanship, and plenty of fighting spirit as they took on the Inter School Academic and Athletic League (ISAAL) Badminton Tournament last August 7–8, 2025, at Chut’s Badminton & Sports Center. The two-day event brought together the best young shuttlers from various schools, each wielding their own unique strengths and strategies in pursuit of victory.
From the moment the shuttlecocks soared across the court, it was clear: every match would be a test of skill, stamina, and heart.
The Jaguars entered the arena ready to face fierce competition. In the U14 Girls Singles category, Josandra Daleon fought valiantly, giving her all against tough opponents. Despite her unwavering effort, she was outscored 31–9 and 31–7. Her performance, however, was a testament to perseverance, never letting the scoreboard define her spirit.
Meanwhile, in the U14 Boys Singles, John Lee Reguyal was a force to be reckoned with. Armed with powerful smashes and rock-solid defense, he stormed through his first two matches, securing victories at 31–18 and 31–10. His impressive run brought him to the quarterfinals, where the competition grew even more intensely.
The U16 Girls Doubles team of Allana Dela Cruz and Reguyal Ria displayed sharp coordination and relentless energy. Though they ultimately fell short with scores of 31–9 and 31–8, their teamwork was evident throughout the matches.
On the other hand, in the U14 Boys Doubles, Marc Manalastas and Crisjohn Tavas faced an uphill battle against King’s Montessori, dropping the first game 31–5. Bouncing back with determination, they edged out VMC in a nail-biting 31–26 win, before bowing to EDSCI at 31–17.
And in the U16 Boys Doubles duo, Jurel Pascual and Jaiviel Arkin Prado, opened strong by toppling SMRS 31–24. However, their run was cut short after falling to KMS and VMC with scores of 31–20 and 31–18 respectively.
The highlight of the Jaguars’ campaign came from Natalie Arias of the U16 Girls Singles. From the very first serve, Arias commanded the court—sweeping her matches 31–18, 31–9, and 31–18. Her agility, precision, and calm under pressure carried her all the way to the finals.
Although she narrowly missed the gold, Arias proudly brought home the bronze medal—a shining symbol of her dedication and hard work.
Head Coach Mrs. Leongson shared words of wisdom that echoed the team’s resilience.
“Pero kung ano man ang ibigay ni Lord, ok lang. So kung matalo man kami, magt-training at magt-training pa din kami. Kung manalo, magt-training pa din kami.”
In the end, the ISAAL Badminton Tournament was more than just about scores—it was about experience, growth, and school pride. The QCA Jaguars may not have taken home the championship crown this time, but they certainly left the court with heads held high, ready to train harder for the battles ahead.
