🚨 Urgent Typhoon Safety Message for Our Members: Prepare for "Uwan" 🚨

The safety of our members is our highest priority. As Severe Tropical Storm "Uwan" (international name: Fung-Wong) intensifies into a potential Super Typhoon and approaches the country, we urge everyone in the affected regions to take immediate and serious precautions.

This is a life-threatening storm with forecasts of very strong winds, intense rainfall, widespread flooding, and dangerous storm surges.

Key Safety Reminders: Act Now!
Stay Informed:

Monitor Official Updates: Keep your radio, TV, and mobile devices tuned to official announcements from PAGASA, your Local Government Unit (LGU), and disaster management offices. Be aware of the current Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) in your area.

Charge Devices: Fully charge your cellphones, power banks, and any battery-operated devices (like flashlights/radios) in anticipation of power outages.

Prepare Your Home & Supplies:

Emergency Kit (Go Bag): Ensure your emergency kit is fully stocked and easily accessible. It should contain:

Water and non-perishable food (enough for at least 3 days).

Medicines (prescription and over-the-counter), first aid kit.

Flashlight, extra batteries, and a whistle.

Copies of important documents (IDs, insurance) in a waterproof bag.

Cash.

Secure Your Home: Tie down or bring in all loose objects outdoors (e.g., furniture, potted plants, garbage cans) that could be turned into flying debris by strong winds.

Clear Drains: Check and clear your gutters and drainage systems to prevent water from pooling around your home.

Evacuation and Travel:

Follow LGU Orders: If you live in a coastal area, near a riverbank, or in a flood/landslide-prone zone, EVACUATE IMMEDIATELY when advised or ordered by your local authorities. Do not wait for the storm to hit.

Avoid Travel: Do not venture out during the storm. All non-essential travel should be canceled due to the danger of strong winds, zero visibility, falling debris, landslides, and impassable, flooded roads.

During the Storm:

Stay Indoors: Remain in the strongest part of your house, away from windows and doors.

Electrical Safety: Turn off and unplug all electrical appliances and consider switching off the main power supply to prevent electric shock or fire from power surges or flooding.

Stay Away from the Coast/Rivers: Do not attempt to cross flooded areas or go near the sea/riverbanks due to the risk of strong currents and storm surge.

We pray for everyone's safety during this challenging time. Please look out for your family, neighbors, and especially those who may need assistance, such as the elderly or persons with disabilities.
