Here's an easy way to explain the Rule of Specificity to those new to USRPT using a math analogy:
Traditional training is like "addition", while an actual race is like "multiplication". While learning addition contributes to learning multiplication [e.g. (3 + 3 + 3) = (3 x 3)], nothing prepares you for a test on multiplication (i.e. racing) better than working on your times tables everyday.
USRPT is like times tables for multiplication.
Study for exactly what's on the test.
