Subject: Request for Inclusion of Women’s Handball in Khelta Punjab Pink Games 2026
Respected Madam / Sir,
With due respect, we would like to request the inclusion of Women’s Handball in the upcoming Khelta Punjab Pink Games 2026.
The Handball sport is rapidly growing in World and is already well established in Pakistan, particularly in Punjab, where it is played extensively at school, college, and university levels. Inter-University Handball Championships are regularly organized by HEC, and Inter-Board competitions are conducted under IBCC. This sport is also included in Danish Schools daily sports training program in Punjab six days a week. In the past years many girls from Danish schools represent at international level.
Punjab has consistently demonstrated excellence in Handball. The Punjab Women’s Handball Team won the Bronze Medal at the 35th National Games held in Karachi, proudly representing the province at the national level.
In this context, the non-induction of Women’s Handball in the Khelta Punjab Pink Games 2026 would be an unfair and discouraging decision, particularly for the talented girls of South Punjab and other under-represented Districts, who have brought honor to Punjab through their national-level achievements. The Bronze Medal winning Punjab team included players from diverse districts, namely:
Attock (1) - Rahim Yar Khan (2) - Mianwali (1) - Lodhran (1) - Vehari (3) - Jatoi Muzaffargarh (1) Dera Ghazi Khan (1) - Multan (1) - Faisalabad (2) - Sialkot (3)
Excluding Handball from the Pink Games would deprive these deserving female athletes especially from South Punjab of a vital platform for recognition, motivation, and continued development. The Pink Games are meant to promote gender inclusion, regional representation, and equal sporting opportunities, and the absence of Women’s Handball contradicts these very objectives. Furthermore, Handball is an integral part of the Prime Minister’s Youth Talent Hunt Program (PMYP) under the Talent Hunt Youth Sports League (THYSL), where Punjab secured 1st and 2nd positions in both men’s and women’s categories. It is also worth mentioning that the National Women’s Handball Team consists entirely of players from Punjab, reflecting the province’s dominance and contribution to the sport.
Therefore, it is most humbly requested that Women’s Handball be included in the Khelta Punjab Pink Games 2026, in the larger interest of fairness, athlete development, and the promotion of women’s sports across Punjab.
Your kind support and coordination in this regard will be highly appreciated.
