Two years ago, I embarked on an educational journey unlike anything I had experienced before. Having left school at 16 without earning a school-leaving certificate, I never imagined returning to formal education. I’m not entirely sure what compelled me to take on this challenge at this stage of my career—perhaps it was the same mentality that has driven me since leaving home at a young age. I've always been fueled by competition, constantly striving to improve at whatever I do.I came across the program, which offered an MSc in Sports Directorship—a course designed to provide deep insights into the management of sports. Having unknowingly stepped into the role of a Sporting Director multiple times throughout my career, I was curious to learn more. After several inspiring conversations with hashtag
(Managing Director) and (Chairman), I made the decision to embark on this incredible journey. My first module began while I was in Kolkata, India, having just taken the East Bengal job. With classes starting at 6 PM UK time 11:30 PM for me. The sheer amount of information we received was staggering. Between online meetings, endless reading, proofreading, checking, and rechecking oh, and running a football club, it felt like I was drowning. I often questioned myself as to why I had taken on this challenge, but every time doubt crept in, a quick call to
(our Course Leader) or one of our tutors,
and , and suddenly, things became just a little clearer. I would not have completed this program without them. I lost count of how many times I emailed them, the Zoom calls, and when they made the mistake of sharing their personal numbers, I messaged them constantly. No matter what time day or night I would reach out, knowing I would get a reply followed by another question from me, and yet again, within minutes, another response from them. You see I didn't just pass I was awarded a Distinction! I put this down to their unwavering support from day one. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
There are many others to thank, , the librarian at UCFB, who went out of her way to suggest and source books and articles that I needed. , who guided us through the final module, and of course hashtag , whose guidance was invaluable. A special mention to , the unsung hero, always on hand to help me navigate the various challenges along the way.
