Faustino Oro to Play Menorca Open, Chasing Grandmaster Title!

Argentinian prodigy IM Faustino Oro is set to play in the Open Chess Menorca from April 7–12, continuing his exciting push toward the Grandmaster title.

The event will feature 9 classical rounds with a 90+30 time control, and the competition is expected to be tough. Oro enters the tournament as the 25th seed with a 2526 rating, in a field that includes 37 Grandmasters.

If things go his way and he secures the title soon, Oro could still become the second-youngest Grandmaster in chess history, beating the famous record set by Sergey Karjakin, who became a GM at 12 years and 7 months in 2002.
