*Basic life support* training is a way to save life after sudden cardiac arrest leading to sudden death. This may happen most often after heart attack.

It is a well known phenomenon and every body has a knowledge of someone near and dear one or any acquaintance died suddenly, and no body tried to revive him. This attempt for revival in this state is termed 'Basic life Support' This is a way of saving lives following sudde
n cardiac arrest, but the important thing is you have to be very quick for starting the CPR so that if you are successful in reviving your patient he will have intact nervous system also( as brain is the organ which is deteriorated very early----3-5 min after cessation of blood supply). The course of BLS thus gives you the opportunity to learn , how to act in the situation of sudden cardiac arrest to save a life. All adults should know the BLS. American Heart association recommends adults from 15 years older can be trained. so 15 years people should start learning the skill and it should be mandatory for high school students. Not mentioning, this should be the basic requirement for persons to be recruited for life saving and dangerous professions like fire fighters , deep sea divers, swimming coaches, mine workers etc.
