Happy Birthday, Imran Khan. ❤️
For many of us who grew up in the 80s and 90s, Imran Khan was more than a cricketer. He was the closest thing to a real-life superhero.
We were young, and he was already a legend.
We watched him on the cricket field, followed his journey, celebrated the 1992 World Cup and saw him embody determination, confidence, style and belief.
Then came another chapter - turning a deeply personal loss into a dream that would give hope to millions. The creation of Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital showed that his ambitions went far beyond the cricket field.
I still remember like yesterday meeting him as a schoolboy backstage at ICB in Islamabad in the early 90s. Years later, our paths crossed again during the shooting of my video Dooriyan on the Islamabad–Lahore Motorway.
Two very different encounters, many years apart and both remain very special to me. I’ll share the detailed story of Dooriyan soon.
For a whole generation, Imran Khan was one of those rare heroes who seemed larger than life - first on the cricket field, and then through everything he went on to build.
If you could give Imran Khan one message today, what would you say to him?
