The reason why 4-year-old Anish Sarkar is a genius!
Anish is so good. In this position it is white to move. He sees that the opponent can play dxe5 when he can go Bxf7+ and win the queen on d8. But then he notices that Bxf7 can be met with Ke7 and Bg5+ can be blocked with Nf6. So what does the boy do? Within a few seconds he goes b3! so that if dxe5 Bxf7+ Ke7 Ba3+ and he wins the queen! π
Absolutely amazing!

βοΈ The Internal Battle: Chess vs. The Error
"Chess is the struggle against the error."
We often think of chess as a pursuit of the "perfect game"βa flawless sequence of brilliant moves. But the truth is much more humbling. At its core, chess is a high-stakes game of elimination. Itβs not always the person with the most creative ideas who wins; itβs the person who stays the most disciplined. Every time you touch a piece, you are resisting the urge to be impulsive, overlooking a threat, or succumbing to "hope chess."
Why this matters for players:
β’ Discipline over Brilliance: You don't need to find the "computer best" move every time. You just need to avoid the move that loses the game.
β’ Resilience: Everyone makes mistakes. The "struggle" isn't just about avoiding themβit's about how you react after you've made one. Can you keep your composure and complicate the position, or do you fold?
β’ Focus: One lapse in concentration can undo forty moves of hard work. That is the beauty and the cruelty of the 64 squares.
In life, as in chess, we are all struggling against our own errors. The goal isn't to be perfectβit's to be better than you were yesterday.
Whatβs the toughest "error" youβve had to overcome in your games lately? Letβs discuss in the comments! π
