Are your people great at getting things done? Do they always know what to do and how to do it? Do they finish everything that they start? If they do, they likely have an "ex*****on mindset"?

An "ex*****on mindset" differs from a "growth mindset" in those people who best demonstrate it has a clear and distinct focus on accomplishment; for getting the needed results. They are outcome-oriented.

To use a good baseball analogy, they are the "closers." The people you trust the most to help you finish and win the game.

People with an ex*****on mindset are rare in business today. As leaders, we all want them because they're the players who have an impact on team members and deliver extraordinary value to clients and customers.

They are the type of people that leaders count on so much that they get handed the most difficult assignments, complex challenges, and highest-level clients to serve. This is done knowing they will work tirelessly to find the best way to make success happen and then go out and execute it.

To manage the ex*****on of our strategy, we need to build an ex*****on mindset in your people and teams. Here are the defining character traits found in those who hold this mindset:

1. They are always committed, focused, and can be counted upon to deliver,
2. They live the values and beliefs of their organization,
3. They are trusted and respected to make high-value decisions,
4. They never do anything alone and are as committed to the success of the people around them,
5. They own their work, accomplishments, and failures alike.

If you think these are "best in class" individuals that only come along occasionally, think again. This can be developed in almost anyone with a desire to improve to be better.

You don't have to rely on recruiting and making a great hire to have an ex*****on mindset on your team. You have to commit to wanting to teach your people how to execute. It's about acquiring a discipline that your organization currently lacks.

If you've never thought about the way your organization manages the ex*****on of your people, maybe it's time to take a look.

What's the worst thing that could happen?
