Warsaw is in the running for the title of European Capital of Culture 2016. According to rules each year there are two European Capitals of Culture.

European Capital of Culture is the most powerful cultural programme for EU cities and the most recognizable EU initiative in the field of culture. In 2016 the title will go to a Polish and a Spanish city.
