Leiria 2019 - Regional Selection Conference of EYP Portugal

We were extremely lucky to have been sponsored by Águas do Centro Litoral in Leiria 2019, who not only helped to raise awareness to the quality of tap water in Portugal, but also gifted canteens to all participants and made sure they were hydrated throughout the session!

Having welcomed us into their space with no hesitation, Instituto Politécnico de Leiria served as an amazing, inviting space for Teambuilding and Committee Work to be held.

Always helpful and attentive, we could not have asked for a better venue for our participants to get to know each other, and for this we thoroughly thank IPL!

Labelpor, a Portuguese company based in Santo Tirso, kindly offered to make the stickers every participant took home as a memory of Leiria, as they also did for our previous Regional Selection Conference this year.

We would like to express our many thanks for showing their support of Leiria 2019, and hope to work with them again in the future!

We would like to thank the Municipality of Leiria (Município de Leiria) for all of the support in the pre-session period and also during the session - having the support of the community while preparing Leiria 2019 was an essential help, and the session could not have happened without this!

Without the Municipality, Leiria 2019 would not have been the same, in terms of venues, transports, and overall experience, and so we are extremely grateful to them!

Now that some time has passed since the session, we would like to thank Continente for providing all the participants of Leiria 2019 with amazing, fresh produce and food that kept everyone fueled and full during the three days of the session!

Having Continente as our partner allowed us to provide a better and unique experience to all the participants, through the use of great materials in Committee Work, and healthy products throughout the whole session.

Having had Continente as our partner a few times already, we can only hope that we can continue working with them in the future!

Leiria 2019 was a session made up of three days of hard-work, important discussions and a lot of fun.

It is now time to mark the end of the media output produced during the session with the Farewell video that was shown during the Closing Ceremony.

The Media Team of Leiria 2019 would like to thank all the sessions’ participants for their important collaboration and great energy. This session would not have been the same without you.

It is accurate to say that the EYP is far more than just an academic blend of knowledge, but for this project, that’s exactly what the Media Team of Leiria 2019 wanted to give all of the session’s participants a taste of.

Inspired by Denisa’s all-time favourite TV host, Ellen DeGeneres, she decided to mix fun, general knowledge and fast decision-making in order to recreate the famous game “5-second rule”, in a slightly abridged way, suitable for both Delegates and Officials.

During an EYP session, participants get the opportunity to meet and bond with new people from different parts of Europe. The magical environment of Leiria 2019 made it possible for delegates to create new amazing friendships that are part of what made the three days of the session so special.
On the first day, we asked delegates to give us their first impressions of each other based on the Teambuilding day they had shared. Then, on the last day of the session, we showed them the footage and asked them to reveal the unique evolution of their EYP friendships.

Europe is constantly changing, and we, as young European citizens, can and should have a say in what changes are made.

Upon their announcement on the session’s page, the Officials of Leiria 2019 were asked to give their opinion on what should Europe’s tide be, so we found it important to hear the Delegates' opinion on this issue, as well, by asking them “What is something you would like to see changed in Europe?”.

This project aims to demonstrate that youngsters are indeed interested in Europe’s matters and in its future, confirming that their ideas can, in fact, be a part of Europe’s changing tide.

What better way to follow a Murder-Mystery dress-up theme party than to fully integrate the Delegates of Leiria 2019 into their costumes, by transforming them into Murder-Mystery Game Cards?

The EYP brings people from different national and social backgrounds together. Communicating with individuals from different countries, learning their language, understanding their way of thinking and thus respecting their civilization has a lot to offer to our personal development.

With this in mind, the Media Team of Leiria 2019 asked international officials and Portuguese delegates to stand in pairs and repeat foreign tongue-twisters after each other. This video project aims to show how difficult but, at the same time, fun and interesting learning a foreign language can be.

During the last day of the session, the Media Team held a photo booth just right outside the General Assembly venue, in order to capture some of the faces that made Leiria 2019 a unique experience for all its participants.
