happy birthday to my love, my partner, and the most amazing woman and mother I know. You’re an incredible human being we have been through two lifetimes together already, and I am so lucky to be a part of this family. Your husband and son love you more than we can ever express with words and babble. Happy birthday baby!

Our last teacher training in September included people from 17 different countries all over the world. It is actually my favorite aspect of leading teacher trainings in an international hub. Not only do the students get a fantastic education in terms of yoga and meditation, but they get to be completely immersed culturally. There is so much tension and anger throughout the world right now, and I believe that a lot of it stems from our inability to surround our self with people from other cultures and beliefs systems. I was so proud of this picture, because this is Yulia and Elena. Yulia is from Ukraine and Elena is from Russia. At the end of the training they had become the best of friends. During the beginning of the training though, Elena shared that she was very nervous that Yulia was going to hate her because of what’s going on in their countries currently. Instead of judging her, Yulia opened her heart to Elena and allowed this beautiful friendship to flourish. I have friends in America who aren’t even able to have a friendship with somebody of the opposite political party. It’s making us pull away from each other, and destroying empathy. One challenge that I give my students during the training is to have a conversation with somebody with opposing beliefs of you and learn how to listen to that person respectfully. If we cannot learn to do this humanity is truly doomed. If you want to be positive inspiration for the planet right now, challenge yourself to develop a friendship with somebody who has different beliefs than you, especially if those beliefs are triggering. Your triggers are your responsibility.

Our first Meditation TT has been absolutely incredible. I’m so proud and impressed by the quality of human beings that have chosen to be with us for these 17 days. And I’m also so grateful for my wife for being the true mastermind of this program. We are helping our wounded planet heal together, and training a new generation of meditators that will go out to all 4 corners of the earth and be of service. Life couldn’t be more meaningful! ❤️

By the time were 30 years old almost everybody I know has a wound. This is not the type of wound that you can put a Band-Aid on, or let it heal on their own. This is a wound that requires deep cleaning, care, introspection, humbling, and forces you to face some of your darkest fears. It is the opportunity that the universe gives us to grow from a child into an adult. If we do not clean out this wound, we will age physically but stay stuck in Developmental phase somewhere between being a child and a real Man (or woman). If we do the dirty work of cleaning out this wound, we will have transformed our lives and often times will have ended generational defects that might have plagued our children. I cleaned out my wound from the age of 29 until 32. It was a raw and uncomfortable transformation, however when I emerged from it I grew into the man that I am today. Had I not cleaned out this wound I would not truly be able to sit in front of people and teach Yoga and Meditation. I would feel like a fraud, because no matter matter how much technique I studied I was not yet walking the walk. Clean out your wounds, slay your demons, The universe needs you operating at your highest potential.

This picture is from 4 years ago today. I gave my iPhone to Balinese photographer at the tanah lot temple. He had a professional camera and was charging to take pictures of people with his camera. He grabbed my phone and enthusiastically gave me directions on where to stand to get the best light for the shot. He was friendly, passionate and genuinely cared about me getting a good shot. He took several, and then gave me a 👍🏻 and handed my phone back to me.

I reached out to pay him some money for my pictures, and he refused. “No money, I just want you be blessed.” Here I was, with my iPhone technology slowly taking away his career, and this man was still kind enough to insist on taking this shot for free. I will remember this picture for a long time, not because of the temple (which was beautiful), but because of a random act of kindness from a stranger. Today...I will do something kind for someone else. And I won’t talk about it here.

Do something selfless today...and don’t tell anyone about it. It feels good.

Remember, There’s nothing more American than packing your bags, abandoning a corrupt and incompetent government, and taking your family elsewhere in search of a better life. 

Our son will not be raised in the USA.

We did it, and so can you. 

Happy international yoga day. The statement “God has a bigger and better dream for you than anything you could imagine”, definitely rings true in my life. Teaching yoga has given me a life that is better than anything I could possibly have imagined. It has cleansed my soul, opened my heart, and shown me the world. Thank you for saving me.
