ARE YOU PAYING ATTENTION TO WHAT YOU PAY ATTENTION TO?
Psychologist William James wrote: “Your experience is what you attend to”. So I ask you again: are you paying attention to what you pay attention to? If you’re not, you could be surrendering your agency, your lived experience to the lowest bidder.. to the signals competing for you attention. You must practice stewardship of internal life, you must take control of what you pay attention to. This is the first step to mental wellbeing. Reclaim your mind.

“Being in the moment” is really just inhabiting the expanded present. It means engaging with what’s happening as it unfolds, it means to become immersed and transfixed by the Here and Now. But this isn’t always easy. It requires flow triggers and novelty. It requires the right friends. The right friends can catapult you into the expanded present. An engaging “hang” becomes an altered state of consciousness. You’re in the territory beyond your maps. You’re off the reservation, living in the expanded present.
