The Solrais Womenβs Premier League (SWPL) Club, Koloale Womenβs Football Club has successfully conducted a football try-out program on Saturday 28th March at Lawson Tama Stadium, attracting a strong turnout of aspiring female players.
The initiative featured three categories β Womenβs Open, Under-18, and Under-16 β providing opportunities for both established and emerging talents to showcase their abilities.
In a statement released by the club, officials confirmed that a significant number of women and girls participated in the program, highlighting the growing interest and enthusiasm for womenβs football.
The club emphasized that the try-out program is part of its long-term development pathway, aimed at identifying and nurturing talent across different age groups in the country.
βAt a time when Solomon Womenβs Premier League (SWPL) clubs are facing scrutiny over recruiting players from rival teams, Koloale FC is taking a different approach,β the statement read.
βBy hosting open trials for the Womenβs Open, U18, and U16 categories, the club is focused on building its squad through development and equal opportunity.β
Koloaleβs initiative has been widely welcomed as a positive step towards strengthening grassroots football and promoting inclusivity within the womenβs game.
Meanwhile after successful hosting of the try-out last Saturday, the club revealed that their training squad will be announced soon as they gear up for the SWPL 2026 season.

With the Try out held last Saturday, our coach did select a total of 40 pool of young players mostly high school students. However, the club could only register 25 players and so we were so fortunate to have a friendly match with Haura FC to help our coaching staff select the 25 players for this year's season.
The club would like to thank the HCC sports division for allowing Lawson Tama as the venue for the trials and friendly even though it was fully booked.
The Haura Team for accepting our invitation.
And our Hardworking coaching staff, Hayzlyn Nunu, Chris Uia and Crystal Bakolo for making sure this small events runs smoothly.
To the players that turned up for the friendly, big thanks to you all. please stay tuned as we will announce our squad shortly π.
For those Sabbath keepers who missed the friendly. We have taken note of your names. As well as for those who missed out on personal reasons. We'll see you all again after Easter.
For now, let' us not forget to visit our local churches for easter programs . Remember, One Word from God can change your life forever.
Wishing everyone a blessed Easter celebration. Let the Love of Christ rise within our lives this Easter π

Coaches do really have a big heart.
The only person apart from your parents or relatives that cared most are COACHES. You do not even relate to them by blood but they cared the most. You will see that they are the ones that really concern about the welfare of the players. They would ask about how your day was and would like to know if there's anything bothering you.
Apart from their children they would also dig deep in their pocket to give u $$ making sure you got home safe.
There are no other people apart from our parents who cared this much.
To all the coaches out there whatever sports you are looking after. I salute you allπ«‘.

While some clubs in the Solrais Women's Premier League ( SWPL) are facing scrutiny for recruiting players from rivals- a move critics argue causes " inconvenience" and undermines the growth of clubs that invested in those players ---Koloale FC is taking a different approach. By hosting a try out this Saturday, March 28, 2026, the club is establishing a fresh recruitment platform focused on its core 2026 strategic pillar: Player development.
Key Highlights of Koloale FC's Approach
1. New Recruitment platform: Instead of relying solely on exiting league. the club is opening it's doors to new players through public try outs to build it's 2026-27 squad.
2. Focus on development: Player development is a top priority for KFC this year, aligning with broader regional goals to nature elite skills and prepare athletes for higher competition such as the Annual OFC U15 development tournaments and the National U16 and 19 OFC tournaments.
3. Addressing Club Concerns: This "Tryout" model provides an alternative to the controversial practice of "Poaching" which has recently caused frustration among local clubs who feel their development efforts are being undercut by larger teams.
Our Key Focus: Identifying and developing new talent for the upcoming SWPL season.
Our Goal: Maintaining the clubs commitment to long term player development.

We would like to thank the National Women's Team Head coach and TD for the SIFF, Moses Toata for giving our two provincial based players an opportunity to train with the National women's team over the past 3 weeks. Even though they were not able to make it into the next stage..they do have a lot to take in, in this 3 weeks of intensive training.
Opportunities as such really boost their morale to continue to work hard and be a role model to other provincial based players.
