🇸🇧 ANNOUNCEMENT | Solomon Islands National U-16 Women’s Training Squad

We are excited to announce the selection of the National Under-16 Women’s Training Squad as they begin preparations for the upcoming OFC U-16 Women’s Championship!

These young talents have earned their call-up after impressive performances in trials and regional competitions. They now take an important step toward representing Solomon Islands on the regional stage.

The Solrais Women’s Premier League (SWPL) Club, Koloale Women’s Football Club has successfully conducted a football try-out program on Saturday 28th March at Lawson Tama Stadium, attracting a strong turnout of aspiring female players.

The initiative featured three categories — Women’s Open, Under-18, and Under-16 — providing opportunities for both established and emerging talents to showcase their abilities.

In a statement released by the club, officials confirmed that a significant number of women and girls participated in the program, highlighting the growing interest and enthusiasm for women’s football.

The club emphasized that the try-out program is part of its long-term development pathway, aimed at identifying and nurturing talent across different age groups in the country.

“At a time when Solomon Women’s Premier League (SWPL) clubs are facing scrutiny over recruiting players from rival teams, Koloale FC is taking a different approach,” the statement read.

“By hosting open trials for the Women’s Open, U18, and U16 categories, the club is focused on building its squad through development and equal opportunity.”

Koloale’s initiative has been widely welcomed as a positive step towards strengthening grassroots football and promoting inclusivity within the women’s game.

Meanwhile after successful hosting of the try-out last Saturday, the club revealed that their training squad will be announced soon as they gear up for the SWPL 2026 season.

With the Try out held last Saturday, our coach did select a total of 40 pool of young players mostly high school students. However, the club could only register 25 players and so we were so fortunate to have a friendly match with Haura FC to help our coaching staff select the 25 players for this year's season.

The club would like to thank the HCC sports division for allowing Lawson Tama as the venue for the trials and friendly even though it was fully booked.
