HFA elects new executive
Members of the Honiara Football Association (HFA) voted in a new executive committee during the congress held in Honiara today.
The new committee is headed by Dekon Kuong who won the position of president in a landslide victory. Elected alongside Kuong is vice president, Redley Raramo, treasurer, Jedidiah Fanaomea and general secretary, Richard Fugui. Henry Koto, Jeffery Sipele and John Lanu were elected as ordinary members.
The election of the officer bearers for HFA brings an end to the period of normalization which the association has been under since 2021. This followed the decision of the Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) to place the association under administration for failing to meet its statutory requirements.
Newly elected president, Kuong called the election a new birth for HFA and encouraged members to work together for the future of the association.
โThis is a new birth for HFA,โ says Dekon adding that โWe need the cooperation and hard work of all our members to bring the vision within our plans to fruition. My committee will work with the members, SIFF and stakeholders and will engage at all levels to drive football forward in Honiara.โ
Vice-chairperson of the HFA normalizing committee, the body which oversaw the operations of the association, Wilson Neโe, congratulated the new president and thanked the members for working together to organize the congress.
โThe time is right for HFA to have new leadership that will take the association to newer heights. I wish to congratulate the new president elect for his success in the elections today,โ says Neโe. โYour presence here shows that you care about the future of Honiara football and are willing to contribute to its success.โ
The HFA elections were supervised by the SIFF electoral commission.
