Boys Connect has wrapped up! What a pleasure to engage with the youth and support this initiative throughout the weekend.

My ministry is proud to be partnering with the Office of the First Lady to on this initiative. Thank you to all partners who made this possible.

From Friday’s launch, to dropping by their cultural evening and dance class with the Emergency crew on Saturday, and finally joining them again today for their closing presentations, it was wonderful to see the transformation in our first 45 participants.

Today, the boys proudly presented posters they had learned to develop during the camp. But what impressed me most was not only what they created — it was how much more confident, connected and willing to speak up they had become from Friday to Sunday. And the bonds they had formed (which they reminded me to notice on Saturday after I had told them on Friday I didn’t want to see them siting with their friends from the same school when I saw them next)

My message to them throughout was simple: you do not have to navigate life alone. Ask questions. Seek advice. Support one another. Be brave enough to try, fail, learn and keep going.

There are people around you who want to help you succeed -but you also have to be willing to step forward.

Thank you to the Office of the First Lady, the facilitators, partners and sponsors who made Boys Connect possible.

A grande finale for Youth Festival 2026!

What a way to close a week that truly celebrated the energy, creativity and potential of our young people.

From the beginning, our message was clear: empowered and united youth shape the future.

The Youth Flame of Hope reminded us that although we come from different islands, communities and backgrounds, there is far more that connects us than separates us. When we support one another, listen to one another and move forward together, we are stronger.

It was an honour to officially close the Book of the Flame of Hope, carrying forward the dreams and aspirations of this generation until it is reopened in 2036.

And yes, I even joined in the dance 😅 -despite having very little dancing skill! But that was part of the message too: sometimes you simply have to step forward, try something new and not be afraid of the challenge.

To every young person who participated, performed, volunteered and brought this festival to life — thank you.

Huge thank you to SNYC,NSC and Department of youth and sports for us all working together as Ministry of Youth and Sports to pull this altogether.

The flame may now be switched off, but what it represents should keep burning within us.

Keep the flame alive. Stay united. Keep challenging yourselves. Shape the future together.

It was great to join so many young people at the Youth Spiritual Forum at ICCS, held as part of Youth Festival 2026.

The discussions around spirituality, values and purpose were a reminder that empowerment is not only about skills and opportunities—it is also about knowing who you are, what you stand for and having the confidence to follow your own path.

To our young people: dare to be different.

Stay true to your values, respect the beliefs and journeys of others, and have the courage to become the person you want to be.

A big well done to Angelique and Dania for representing Seychelles at the 2026 CAVB Beach Volleyball Continental Senior Championships in Egypt. 🇸🇨🏐

The results may not have gone our way, but competing at this level is part of the journey. Every match brings experience, lessons and another opportunity to grow stronger.

Thank you both for giving it your all and carrying our flag with pride.

Angelique & Dania’s campaign concludes at the Continental Championships. We wish to thank them for their fighting spirit and continued success. 🏐 🇸🇨

Our youth showed up to save lives.

As part of the Youth Festival, it was inspiring to see young people step forward for the blood drive.

One moment stayed with me: a young participant who was terrified of needles, but showed up and donated anyway. That is courage: being afraid, but choosing to do something meaningful despite it.

I was disappointed that I could not donate this time because I did not meet one of the eligibility criteria, but I hope to join them next time.

To everyone who donated, thank you. And to those who can, I encourage you to visit the Ministry of Health and give blood.

A few minutes of courage can help save a life.

If you’re 13 to 35 years old, come and share your views, ideas and aspirations for the future of youth in Seychelles.

Come speak up, contribute and help us build a National Youth Policy that reflects the realities and aspirations of young people across all our islands.

It was meaningful to join “Unspoken -A Youth Dialogue on Mental Health”, bringing young people together to speak openly, listen to one another and share their perspectives.

The programme created space for presentations, breakout discussions and open dialogue.

Mental health should never be a conversation we avoid. The more we talk, the more we understand. And the more we understand, the better we can support one another.

Thank you to SNYC staff and everyone who helped create this safe and important space for our youth.

The result may not have gone our way against Morocco, but I’m proud of the way they represented Seychelles on the continental stage.
