We thought we'd share some of the things we love about Geese. If you've been to our website before, you'll know Geese form part of a collage of natural metaphors we use. Seeing our feathered friends fly overhead in recent weeks has reminded us of their amazing qualities. To us, Geese are that demonstrate many of the attributes we need as groups of people working together.
If for you and your team these are trying times it can help to reframe this as an epic journey we're all on together. We fly towards something warmer, better, calmer, whatever the goal. We will always fly further together. So for now, maybe we need to keep each other going - one eye on the destination, the other not missing the amazing achievements we are making along the way. If Geese can do it, so can we!

If this is feedback, what do we like about it? What don't we like? What can we hallucinate about the relationship? What might be the necessary conditions for delivering effective feedback in your mind?

What gets you through the day? Resilience is like magic; it's invisible until you need it. Sometimes when it's in use we can start to doubt ourselves, wondering if we really have what it takes to make it through. At other times, we can knuckle down, dig deep and push on through, determined to succeed. Whether you foster self-assurance by saying the right things to yourself or, like me, you have an array of reminders scattered around in kindly chaotic pride, the beliefs that we "can" and "will", are our friends in dark days... at least they are for me. And, my best bet is, if we were together talking about your challenges, I'd believe in you. So I hope you do too.

Thursday Thinking Space is back with a new series from our Iter Vitae (which means "life journey") programme. These 6 short sessions are designed to give you a taster of applied positive psychology along with some practical tools you can try for yourself. We will cover six of the core subject areas within the field, and cant wait to get into the learning we love with as many of you as possible.
If you think someone you know might like this please "forward, like and share".

In our Friday wrap up, we asked many "holding questions" (questions we cannot answer now but need time to percolate through to the unconscious). We can't always have a clear path forward, and as people, we tend to favour certainty. We can be energised by its opposite, and with that energy can come innovative thinking. So, its good to ask holding questions and allow the answers to be revealed in time, for they are there. Get curious.
We end this week reflecting and also excited for what's in store during the next... many new things to try. First, its time to rest and recharge. We wish this for you too.

What kind of team are you in? It may interest you to know that there are four kinds of team: 1. A group of I's on their own
2. A group of I's with some facing in different directions
3. A group of I's who are aligned
4. A group that operate as a 'We'
Becoming, being and staying a 'We' or an 'Us' is not always something that happens by itself. There are a number of key things that a team needs to have, be and do to achieve it.
We come alive when we work with , because what a team can do when the become a 'We' is nothing short of amazing and almost magical when the dynamics are right.

The distant horizon is out of focus and uncertain, while the small sphere of my known 'world' is crystal clear, it's safe...so the choice is, do I stay small or venture into the where , and potentially a hero's journey await...which will I choose...and which will you choose?

As people, we often hold how we think and act at an identity level. Indeed, when those around us do certain things in specific ways we can tell ourselves a story about who they are. The "pessimists" get a bad rep from many "optimists" who find their different thinking style difficult to process. Seligman (perhaps the godfather of optimism) cautioned in 1990 that one must be careful not to be a ‘slave to the tyrannies of optimism’, but must be ‘able to use pessimism’s keen sense of reality when we need it’ (p. 292)
