Verbier sits at around 1,500 metres in the Swiss Valais. From the village, every trail goes one direction: up.
Larch forest. Alpine meadows. Old irrigation channels running beside the path. Rock, scree, and glaciers on the skyline. Some mornings you run inside the cloud. Other days you can see forever.
On days like that, two things decide how the day goes: energy and hydration.
Energy is what keeps you moving on the long climbs, when the pace drops and the summit is still far off. Hydration is what you carry for the dry, thin air up high and the hours between refills. Neither can wait until you feel you need it.
The strongest trail days are planned from the first step, with fuel in the pocket and a flask on the chest.
