Yoga and meditation retreat – Reconnect with your inner self
So many things need to be in place for our overall well-being and we might be overwhelmed by the flow of advice we get every day on how to eat, how to exercise, how to get enough sleep, how to deal with relationships, how to handle stress, how to be a parent, how to be a child, how to advance in a career you may not even feel motivated for anymore.

If you feel lost, you are not alone.

In our retreat, we hold space for you to find your own answers and reconnect with your inner wisdom, which was always there, but may have drowned in information, norms and expectations. We will provide you with processes and sessions to gently fold away the layers that are hiding your inner voice, and stand by your side while you explore your body, mind and soul. Giving yourself the time and space that is needed.

Linda Sjöholm & Ulrika Säljeby will be guiding you in yoga, meditation, Transformational breathwork, plant based cooking and life coaching. The teaching will be in English and Swedish depending on the group.

Overwhelm can come from the inside as well as from the outside. To stay cool in an overwhelming world we need to have the guts to go within. To honestly and bravely and with compassion with our hands on the belly and the chest dare to ask the question - what is really going on? And dare to stay with whatever comes up until it feels seen and heard and safe to let go. Only then will the tension go away and healing begin🧡.

What If Your Biggest Problem Is Not the Person Who Hurt You, But the Alarm System Inside You That Never Got Reset?

That question sat with me long after Margo Trueblood's voice faded from my earphones. She narrated this audiobook with a softness that felt like a trusted friend leaning close and saying, "It's okay. You're not broken. You just need to understand what's happening inside you." And Judith Siegel, with the precision of a seasoned therapist and the warmth of someone who genuinely cares, gives you exactly that understanding. This is not one of those self-help books that slaps you on the wrist and tells you to calm down. Oh no. This book sits with you in your mess, holds your hand through your worst moments, and then, ever so gently, shows you the door out. I need you to understand that this is the book I wish I had years ago, the one I am now pressing into the hands of everyone I love. If emotional chaos has ever cost you a relationship, a job, a friendship, or even your own peace of mind, then beloved, this review is your sign. Let's talk about what Siegel really teaches us, because the lessons hit different when you actually absorb them.

1. Your Overreactions Are Not Character Flaws. They Are Old Survival Strategies That Overstayed Their Welcome.
Siegel opens this book by dismantling one of the most painful lies many of us carry, which is the belief that we are fundamentally too much, too sensitive, too explosive, too dramatic. With a compassion that genuinely made me pause the audiobook and catch my breath, she explains that overreacting is not a personality defect but rather a learned response, one that was often forged in the fires of childhood experiences where we felt powerless, deprived, or devalued. She walks you through how the brain, particularly the amygdala, that small but mighty alarm center, becomes hyper-trained to detect threat in situations that mirror old wounds. So when your partner uses a certain tone, or your boss gives you critical feedback, or a friend goes silent on you, your nervous system does not process it as a present-day event. It hijacks you straight back into that old feeling world, and suddenly you are not a grown adult in 2026, you are that child again, scared and unheard, and the reaction that floods out of you belongs to that child, not to this moment. Siegel calls this the "old emotional memories" phenomenon, and the moment you understand it, something in your chest loosens, because you finally realize you were never crazy. You were just unprotected and unguided, running on a survival script nobody helped you rewrite.

2. You Are Either an Exploder or an Imploder, and Both Are Quietly Destroying Your Relationships.
Siegel makes it viscerally clear that overreacting does not always look like screaming or throwing things. Sometimes it looks like shutting down completely, going ghost on someone, swallowing your pain until it ferments into resentment, or withdrawing so deeply into yourself that the people who love you cannot reach you anymore. She identifies two dominant patterns, exploding outward and imploding inward, and with breathtaking honesty she shows how both patterns carry equally devastating consequences. The exploder scorches relationships with fire. The imploder suffocates them with ice. And what makes this lesson so gut-wrenching is Siegel's reminder that both responses are rooted in the same fear, the terror of feeling powerless, rejected, or unseen. Margo Trueblood's narration makes this section especially piercing, because she delivers it with such measured calm that you feel the contrast between her steadiness and the inner storm she is describing. When Siegel says that both extremes undermine your ability to think rationally and choose wisely in moments of stress, she is not scolding you. She is holding up a mirror with love, and what you see in that mirror might just change everything. This is the kind of main character moment where you realize the plot of your life deserves a different ending.

3. Your Triggers Are a Map, Not a Sentence. Learn to Read Them.
One of the most liberating and also one of the most emotionally demanding lessons in this entire book is Siegel's insistence that your triggers are not random, they are meaningful. They are breadcrumbs leading back to the core wounds around envy, rejection, criticism, shame, and helplessness that shaped how you learned to feel safe, or unsafe, in this world. She takes you through the internal schemas, the deeply held beliefs about yourself and others that operate like invisible software in the background of every interaction. When someone criticizes you and you spiral, it is not just about their words. It is about what those words activate deep in your schema, perhaps the belief that you are fundamentally inadequate, or that you are always one mistake away from being abandoned. Siegel teaches that identifying your triggers, really sitting with them and asking "what is this actually about," is the beginning of genuine emotional freedom. This is not a slay moment where you simply reframe and move on. This is the harder, holier work of actually going into the darkness and asking what lives there. The good news, and Siegel delivers this news with such grace, is that once you name the wound, it begins to lose its power over you. You are no longer reacting from the shadow. You are finally responding from the light.

4. The Space Between Stimulus and Response Is Where Your Entire Life Can Change.
Siegel dedicates significant heart to teaching what is arguably the most practical skill in the book, which is how to create a pause between what triggers you and how you respond to it. She draws on neuroscience, explaining how the right brain, which processes emotion, can flood and override the left brain, which is responsible for rational thought and language, leaving you in a state she calls "splitting and flooding." In this state, you cannot access nuance, you cannot see the other person's perspective, and you absolutely cannot make good decisions. But here is what is so powerful about Siegel's approach: she does not just tell you to breathe and count to ten like every other book. She gives you a genuine understanding of what is happening physiologically and psychologically in those flooded moments, and then she offers practical, accessible strategies to regulate your nervous system before, during, and after emotional storms. She teaches you to recognize the physical signs of flooding in your body, the tightening chest, the racing heart, the tunnel vision, and to treat those signs as early warnings, as invitations to pause before you say or do something you will spend weeks trying to undo. Reviewers across Amazon have repeatedly called this the most useful section of the entire book, and honestly, it is. Because the ability to pause is not weakness. It is the most radical kind of power a person can possess in a world that is constantly overstimulating all of us.

5. Healing Is Not About Becoming Emotionless. It Is About Becoming the Author of Your Own Response.
Siegel ends with a truth so tender it honestly deserves its own standing ovation. She is not asking you to become a robot. She is not suggesting that emotional neutrality is the goal, or that feeling deeply is the problem. She is asking you to become conscious, to move from being a character in a story your past is writing for you, to becoming the author of your own emotional narrative. She uses real case studies throughout the book, real people with real names and real pain, and through their stories she shows what it looks like when someone does the work. Not perfectly. Not overnight. But genuinely and courageously. By the time Margo Trueblood reads the final chapters with that warm, unhurried voice of hers, you feel something shift. You feel, maybe for the first time, that emotional regulation is not a privilege reserved for people who had perfect childhoods or naturally calm temperaments. It is a skill. It can be learned. It can be practiced. And it can become, with time and intention, the most transformative thing you ever do, not just for yourself, but for everyone you love and everyone who loves you back. Siegel's closing message is essentially this: you survived what happened to you, now give yourself the grace to stop letting it happen through you. And that, right there, is the kind of truth that does not just go viral. It goes deep.
