What’s the First Skill Every Swimmer Needs? 🏊♂️✨
It’s not freestyle. It’s not floating. It’s water confidence.
Before mastering strokes, swimmers—especially young beginners—need to feel comfortable and safe in the water. That means learning to:
✅ Blow bubbles
✅ Put their face in the water
✅ Move their body freely without fear
✅ Trust the water (and their coach!)
These foundational steps help children relax, build trust in the water, and set the stage for everything else—floating, kicking, strokes, and survival skills. 🛟
At Vernon’s Swimming, we focus on confidence before strokes, so every child develops a strong, safe relationship with the water right from the start. 💙
👉 Want to help your child start their swim journey the right way?

🛟 Pool vs. Open Water: Safety Tips Every Parent Should Know 💧🌊
Swimming is fun—but safety always comes first. Here’s how to stay safe in both pools and open water:
POOL SWIMMING
1. Always supervise – even in shallow pools. Accidents happen quickly and silently.
2. Walk, don’t run – pool decks can be dangerously slippery.
3. Learn to float – it's the first step to water confidence.
4. Teach kids to ask before entering – never swim without permission.
5. Check the depth – especially for diving or jumping in.
OPEN WATER
1. Never swim alone – always have a buddy, even for strong swimmers.
2. Know the conditions – tides, currents, and waves can change fast.
3. Stay close to shore – avoid venturing too far, especially with children.
4. Avoid murky water – poor visibility can hide sudden drop-offs or obstacles.
5. Wear a life jacket – especially for kids or weaker swimmers.
At Vernon’s Swimming, we don’t just teach strokes—we teach lifesaving awareness for real-world situations. From the pool to the sea, your child will be ready.
👉 Enrol now and give your child the skills to swim smart and stay safe.

🛟 “Is Floatation Gear Safe for My Child?”
🧸 Arm floats, puddle jumpers, and swim vests may seem like lifesavers—but they’re not substitutes for swimming skills.
Flotation devices can provide a false sense of security. While they help beginners stay afloat, they also change a child's natural body position in water, which can delay proper swimming technique.
✅ The safest approach?
Let your child learn to swim with proper instruction from certified coaches—like ours at Vernon’s Swimming. We teach water confidence, breath control, and survival skills without over-reliance on gear.
🚫 Always supervise your child near water—no floatation device replaces active adult supervision.

💡 What Every Parent Should Know About Swim Progress 🏊♂️💙
Learning to swim is a journey, not a race—and every child progresses at their own pace. Here's what parents should keep in mind:
✅ Consistency > Speed
Regular lessons, even once a week, build strong habits and confidence in the water.
✅ Plateaus Are Normal
Children may show rapid improvement, then hit a “pause.” That’s okay! Growth often happens quietly before visible breakthroughs.
✅ Technique Before Speed
We focus on correct form first—speed and stamina will come naturally with time.
✅ Confidence Comes in Layers
From floating to deep water skills, each new challenge builds trust and independence.
✅ Celebrate Small Wins 🎉
Putting their face in water, doing 5m unassisted, trying a new stroke—every step is worth cheering for!
At Vernon’s Swimming, we guide your child through every stage with patience, safety, and encouragement. 💦
📩 DM us if you have questions about your child’s progress—we're here to help!
