It is almost the weekend, but we will be missing our Painful Sunday this week as it falls on a public holiday. Nevertheless, we can take time to reflect on last weekโ€™s training, and individual members can still push themselves for improvement during their own personal time.

Last Sunday (24 May), while most of our members were recuperating from the Dragon Boat Sprint race held on Friday and Saturday, a small group of about 14 members decided to continue training. Kudos to them for the effort.

We took the opportunity to focus on synchronisation and experiment with different strategies for the 200m distance. We were excited to discover a combination that significantly improved our timing by 10 seconds!

Alongside this newly discovered strategy, we believe success still comes down to the fundamentals of explosive arm strength. Therefore, we reminded members not to neglect their burpees, push-ups, interval sprinting, and weight training.

We will resume Painful Sunday on 7 Jun 2026. Following that, on 14 Jun 2026, we will celebrate The Fitness League 9th Anniversary, and this year, we are bringing back the โ€œBoat Campโ€!

Long-time members will surely remember the intense fitness challenge. It is an amalgamation of The Amazing Race, Running Man, and dragon boating. We look forward to celebrating this milestone together with fellow members. Meanwhile, stay healthy and keep training!

Dragon Boat Sprint @ Kallang 2026 ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿ‰

Paddles up. Hearts racing.
From the first stroke to the final sprint โ€” we gave it everything at Kallang ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Racing across Open, Mixed, and Womenโ€™s 100m categories, every crew brought intensity, trust, and determination onto the water โ€” not just towards the finish line, but as a team ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป

Thankful for every paddler, drummer, steerer, supporter, and voice cheering from the sidelines ๐Ÿ‰โค๏ธ

Kallang Sprint 2026 done and dusted ๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿšฃ๐Ÿšจ
Not the end goal but another checkpoint in the journey. Every race teaches us something new; the water, the boat, and importantly ourselves. The results may fade with time, but the growth, bond, and memories we build along the way will always stay with usโœจ

WEEK 3 COMPLETE ๐Ÿ”ฅ

This week really tested everyone ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ
3,000s Dead Hang + 3,000s Wall Sit was brutalโ€ฆ and no team managed to complete the challenge target ๐Ÿ’€

But despite that, Alice stepped up and dominated this week ๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ”ฅ
Securing Top Ascendant with an insane combined total of 4,740s.

๐Ÿ† Top Dead Hang โ€” 2,280s

Throwback to our final training session before the Dragon Boat Sprint, which will be held over the next two days starting tomorrow at the Kallang waterfront area.

In the past six weeks, we have arranged an independent programme to prepare our racers for the event. As always, although we are a weekend community squad, we continue to give our best as we pit ourselves against elite dragon boat teams at the competition.

We are grateful that our participating members have persevered through the intense training. Members who did not sign up for the event also had their share of excitement through challenging the racers during friendly races.

Overall, we have observed a gradual increase in paddling technique and performance over the past few weeks. Of course, the Dragon Boat Sprint is not the only race we are participating in this year. Looking ahead, there are a few more races with varied distances. We hope that through these experiences, our members will benefit and grow stronger physically and mentally.

Regardless of the outcome of any race, we will give our best effort and, most importantly, enjoy the event with fellow dragon boaters.

If you are around the area in the evening, you may be interested in watching the night dragon boat races, where the competing boats are decorated with beautiful luminous lights. When you are there, do drop by and give your encouragement to The Fitness League.

Welcome to mid-week, and we hope everyone has spent the week fruitfully so far. It is time to recap our last Painful Sunday and look ahead to what is in store for us this weekend.

In line with the revised boat rental timing at Passion Wave @ Bedok Reservoir, we assembled earlier for many intense rounds of dragon boat race drills. Those not participating in the upcoming race did not have an easy time either, as they went through sets of physically demanding technique practices.

At the end of the two-hour paddling session, we pushed on with another 30 minutes of burpees. By then, the majority of our members were already fatigued. Yet, they persevered, understanding that the purpose is to strengthen the mind, adapt to hardship, and keep going no matter what.

Once again, we would like to thank our members for their trust and partnership. They have been the best teammates anyone could ask for in terms of their strong spirit. We look forward to seeing everyone again for another grind this weekend!
