What an eye-opening and meaningful event today at CharlieLim BK’s 60Pax-in-60Mins Singapore Book of Records Challenge!

For the first time, I witnessed more than 70 portraits completed within 60 minutes through CharlieLim BK’s unique PaintoGraphy style.

It was truly amazing to see art, speed, precision, passion and Singapore spirit come together in one room.

I’m grateful to be one of the speakers today, sharing my Singapore story alongside fellow speakers, the organisers Nik and Sebastian, and the incredible CharlieLim BK.

Every face carries a story.
Every portrait captures a moment.
And today, every story became part of something bigger.

Honoured to be sharing at SG60 Voices From The Heart on 6 June, as part of the special 60 Portraits in 60 Minutes event.

My sharing is titled:

“A Raging Fire, A Precious Pillow & A Merlion Dream”

This is a deeply personal story connected to my kampung roots, my family history, and the Singapore spirit that shaped who I am today.

Alongside the storytelling session, artist Charlie Lim BK will be attempting an incredible live art challenge — 60 portraits in 60 minutes.

Stories can be told through words.
Stories can also be captured through art.
And sometimes, both come together to remind us of resilience, humanity and hope.

The event is free of charge, and friends are welcome to join during my sharing session.

This public holiday, I spent my time doing something meaningful. 🍀

Not shopping.
Not sleeping in.
Not just resting at home.

I had the joy of sharing about personality, communication, relationships… and love.

In a relaxed parent-and-child session, we used animals to understand different communication styles:

🦁 Lion
🦋 Butterfly
🦉 Owl
🐘 Elephant

And honestly, this is where the fun begins.

The Lion wants things fast.
The Butterfly wants connection.
The Owl wants to think carefully.
The Elephant wants peace and harmony.

No wonder sometimes we misunderstand each other. 😄

But the beautiful lesson is this:

Different does not mean wrong.
Different simply means we communicate love differently.

Sometimes a parent says, “I’m guiding you.”
But the child feels, “You are controlling me.”

Sometimes a child says, “I just want to be heard.”
But the parent feels, “Why are you so emotional?”

That is why communication matters.

When we understand one another better,
we judge less,
listen more,
and love with more patience.

Behind every personality is a person who wants to feel seen, heard, and loved.

And to me, that is meaningful work. ❤️

Sometimes we care deeply for each other…
yet still end up misunderstanding one another.

Not because love is missing.

But because people communicate differently.

Some people speak directly.
Some stay quiet.
Some need reassurance.
Some need space.
Some express care through actions instead of words.

The more I study personalities, communication, and human behaviour…
the more I realise:

Understanding changes relationships.

Whether as parents, partners, leaders, friends, or even understanding ourselves better —
communication matters.

This is something close to my heart,
and I’m excited to share more soon ❤️

Last night at Inspiration Night, I was reminded again that speaking is never just about words.

It is about connection.
Energy.
Courage.
And the willingness to share something real.

As I listened to every speaker share their journeys so openly and sincerely, I felt deeply moved by the humanity in the room.

Behind every confident voice is a story people never fully see.

Some stories are about resilience.
Some are about healing.
Some are about rediscovering who we truly are after life changes us.

And I think that is why storytelling is so powerful.

Not because it makes us look perfect.
But because it reminds people they are not alone.

I’m deeply grateful to the organisers, speakers, audience, and friends who came down to support such a meaningful evening.
