We kicked off the year with a great in-house tournament for our 9-12 year olds. ๐พ
Each player competed in 5 matches, with Evan & Dora finishing as the Champion and Runner-Up respectively โ congratulations to both ๐๐ผ
All participants also received a special gift courtesy of our sponsor, Tecnifibre. A big thank you for supporting our young athletes!
Tournaments like these - quality matches at the right ability level, in a controlled environment - are an essential part of player development. They build confidence and motivate players to keep improving, while creating great memories and nurturing a genuine love for the game.
Wishing you all a Happy Lunar New Year! ๐งงโจ

๐ Congratulations to Nathan Tan who was awarded Tennis Central SGโs most improved junior player of 2024! ๐
Nathan started lessons with Coach Sam a little less than 2 years ago and was unable to serve, rally and score. Fast forward to today, he can and has progressed from the red ball stage to orange ball stage. He also played in several tournaments, loving every minute of it!
Watching Nathan grow and develop gives Coach Sam a great amount of satisfaction. Heโs earned this recognition through hard work and dedication. Well done, Nathan ๐พ๐ซ

Coach Sam had the pleasure working with two exceptional players in the past month โ Nick Berens from Germany, while he was on holiday in Singapore, and Jacques Rupe from New Zealand, as he was preparing to play the Singapore U14 ATF.
Nick is ranked LK 2.6 in Germany and regularly competes in Tennis Europe events. His best friend, Justin Engell, is the #1 u18 player in the world, and recently made history as the first German since Boris Becker in the 1980s to win an ATP match at 17 years old. Nickโs work ethic and humility especially impressed Coach Sam as these attributes cannot be taught yet are essential for success and to maximise oneโs potential.
Jacques (not pictured) is another example of the dedication and attitude needed to succeed. He is currently ranked #1 in New Zealand for u14s and #40 in Asia for u14s. He had a strong run at the Singapore U14 ATF, where he made the semi finals.
At Tennis Central SG, whether youโre just starting out or preparing for international tournaments, weโve got you covered!

Coach Sam is fresh from winning another doubles title with his long time hitting and doubles partner. This is the second oldest tennis tournament in the UK, after Wimbledon and it was their first time playing the event, which is held annually on grass ๐พ๐ช

Coach Sam was incredibly pleased to re-unite with Daniel Waite, a student who joined Samโs adult beginner group as a newbie to the game way back in 2015 in Cambridgeshire.
Since travel restrictions have largely eased, Daniel was able to make the journey to Singapore from the UK in order to have a long awaited lesson with Coach Sam.
The pair had a really good intense hit โ Coach Sam simplified and made corrections to Danielโs groundstrokes before moving onto and focussing on his serve, working on his ball toss, contact point and rhythm, to great effect.
Since those adult beginner classes, Daniel is now competing regularly in club matches in the Cambridgeshire region as well as playing a lot of inter-club and social tennis. We sincerely hope he plays for years to come! Kudos Daniel ๐๐ช๐พ #ๅ ๆฒน

Tournaments are back!
We had an amazing red ball tournament last weekend, comprising five players, of which four were playing a tournament for the very first time.
Congratulations to Kai Clarke who clinched the trophy in what was his maiden tournament, defeating Victor in the final and avenging his loss to Victor in the round robin group stage.
It was very satisfying to see all the players compete and experience of the fun in a competition. Before starting lessons with Tennis Central SG, none of them were able to serve, rally or score!
Why our (red ball) tournaments are different:
โ
Round robin format to ensure a minimum number of matches and a great player experience
โ
All matches are umpired to avoid confusion, controversies and miscarriages of justice
โ
Brand new, high quality balls provided
โ
High quality trophies provided for the winner & runner up
โ
All players receive a certificate of participation
See you at the next one โ๏ธ๐ช๐พ

Coach Sam caught up with his former student T for a winter training block. He used to coach her in private and group lessons during red and orange ball stages. She is now playing tennis Europe events and county tennis. Coach Sam believes she can go as far as she wants to in tennis. This is tennis development! ๐พ๐ค
