Letitia Sim has represented our nation with dedication and excellence on the world stage, inspiring Singaporeans along the way. 💪 We celebrate her contributions as she retires from competitive swimming, and we thank her for her commitment to the sport. 🇸🇬
We wish her the very best in her future endeavours. ✨
Today, we celebrate and honour Letitia Sim as she announces her retirement from competitive swimming.
Her journey was never just about medals and records. It was about resilience and trusting the process.
She has experienced the heartbreak of near misses at the Asian Games, to stepping onto the biggest sporting stage in the world at her Olympic debut in Paris.
In 2023, Letitia qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympics after clocking an Olympic “A” Cut and Singapore National Record of 1:06.36 in the 100m Breaststroke at the Japan Open.
She went on to deliver a stunning performance at the 33rd SEA Games last December with a remarkable 5-gold haul — sweeping all three breaststroke events, and adding gold in the 200m Individual Medley and Women’s 4×100m Medley Relay. She rewrote the Meet Record in every single gold-winning event, broke the Singapore National Record in the 200m Breaststroke, and clocked a Personal Best in the 200m Individual Medley.
These feats are the reward for years of sacrifice, perseverance, and belief when things were not always easy.
A performance worthy of her legacy. 💙
Thank you Letitia. We are so proud of you.
"I am grateful for my time with Singapore Aquatics and for all of the opportunities and support they have provided me over the past few years. While I am proud of my accomplishments in the pool, I am even more thankful for the relationships, experiences, and memories created both in and out of the water that have shaped me into the person I am today. With that being said, I have decided to pursue a career outside of swimming. This was not an easy decision to make, but after much reflection, I know it is the right path for me moving forward. I will forever be thankful for this chapter of my life, but I am excited for the new opportunities and challenges that lie ahead." - Letitia Sim
