Shohib Marican employed a much more decisive racing style in the 10,000m, taking the lead from more than halfway out to clock the only sub-35 time of the night. All the womenโ€™s podium finishers went under the previous championship record, but it was Vanessa Leeโ€™s sub-40 result that nabbed new record honours.

After trailing the leader for most of the IVP 5000m race, Shohib Marican blasted past the leader in the final 150m with a blistering 65s final lap.

Not to be daunted by racing against the big boys, POLITE triple champion Selvanther Sivakumar found another gear to narrowly grab the silver right at the end and notch a PB as well.
