A heartfelt thank you to all teams and players who have supported us on this great season!

It started in 2011 when my friends and I got bored playing football for other social teams. We gathered some old boys from St. Andrew’s School and kampong friends from Potong Pasir to form a team called Project Vaults FC on May 1st, 2011. We progressed and shifted our focus from social football to competitive football. We are glad to be a stopover for some players who almost gave up football but reignited their passion and moved on to play in S-League today. Ho Wai Loon is one of such players. Just last year, we played our 5th Anniversary game in Manipur, India where there were some 4,000 people in the stands. Though we lost the game 3-1, we had a pleasant experience playing against players who were plying their trade in the Indian Super League. That we managed to score a goal was such an electrifying experience as the strong home crowd burst into cheers for us.

In 2015, I was offered the opportunity to take over Eunos Crescent Football Club (ECFC), just barely a month before the start of the FAS National Football League (NFL) season. Then, ECFC was on the verge of withdrawing from NFL. I decided to take a leap of faith. Truth be told, the first season was messy. Due to the limited time, we missed out on the better players to other clubs. I could not find the synergy with the existing players. We did just enough to survive relegation. I knew the second season had to be different.

We made planning for the next season our priority. We ensured that we had enough time to acquire a strong lineup to challenge for the NFL title. While we were not favorites, we were blessed with a great squad and a strong fighting spirit. We lived by our motto – You can live your dreams. We lived ours as we stormed through the season, won 15 of 18 games, and clinched our inaugural title.

No secrets by now that I personally endeavour to drive ECFC to the Great Eastern-Hyundai S.League someday. Even right now as a NFL outfit, we do our very best to be professional. We are in the midst of finalizing a MOU with VVV-Venlo who are leading the Dutch Jupiter League and will be promoted to Eredivise next season playing against the likes of Ajax, PSV Eindhoven & Feyenoord. An arrangement for players & coaches exchange will be in place and we will send our best players to train with them to further improve as a player. We will also adopt the Total Soccer Method syllabus for our youth development squads to be in-line with the methodology used at VVV-Venlo.

I have heard many moans and cries that Singapore football is deep in its grave and that it will be hard to revive it. I urge the community and public to join me and start supporting local football. Together, we can dream big, like playing in the World Cup, and work towards it. Keep it in sight and believe we can because here at ECFC, we believe that YOU CAN LIVE YOUR DREAMS.
