Love is giving someone the power to destroy you — and trusting they won’t use it.
That is not a small thing. That is everything.
And most of us are doing it wrong.
We keep score. We measure. We love conditionally — I’ll give this much if you give that much back.
But real love was never meant to be equal.
Real love doesn’t work like a spreadsheet
Some seasons you carry more. Some seasons they do. Some days you are the anchor. Some days you are the one drowning.
That is not imbalance. That is love doing exactly what it is supposed to do.
The moment you start keeping score — you have already started to leave.
Love is not a transaction. It is a decision made every day with open hands. Not because it is safe.
Because they are worth the risk. 🤍
Open hands or closed fist — which one are you loving with?

Have you ever loved a porcupine? 🦔

They push you away.
They go quiet.
They get defensive when you get too close.

Not because they don’t want love.

Because they learned that love can hurt.

They’re not difficult.
They’re defended.

And behind every “spike” is usually a story that deserves to be understood.

Therapy isn’t about changing who you are.
It’s about understanding why you had to become this way — and learning that you don’t have to live behind your spikes forever. 🤍

Are you the porcupine — or are you loving one?

Sometimes, this is where healing begins.

I once told my mum she was “just a housewife.” My dad made me regret it immediately.
I was a teenager. Brash. Young. Thought I knew everything.
One day I looked at my mum — the woman who woke up before everyone else and went to bed after everyone else — and I said it.
“You’re just a housewife. You don’t know anything.”
I cringe writing that now.
My dad heard it. He didn’t shout. He didn’t lecture me. He did something far more effective.
He looked at me calmly and said:
“The housewife who doesn’t know anything is taking one month off. Everything she does — you’re doing it now.”
And just like that, my mum sat down.
I did the cooking. The laundry. The cleaning. The ironing. I changed the bed linen. I made sure there was food on the table. I kept the house running.
I lasted about three days before I truly understood.
My mum had no weekends. No HR department to complain to.No performance reviews that ended in a bonus. No one knocking on her door asking — are you okay?
Rain or shine — she showed up. Every single day. Without complaint. Without recognition.
Just a housewife.
There is no just about it.
Mum — I had to learn the hard way to see you clearly. But I see you now. I have always seen you since that day. And I want the world to see you too.
To every mother, every housewife, every woman holding a family together in silence — you are not invisible. You are the foundation everything else is built on. And the world would fall apart without you.
Thank you. From the bottom of my heart.
You have the hardest, most important job in the world — and you do it every day without being asked twice. 🤍

I started a sock brand between therapy sessions.
No big plan. Just me, sitting in my therapy room between clients, watching people carry the heaviest things in silence — and thinking: there has to be a simpler way to open the door.
Every pair tells two stories. Because that is what we all are — two sides. Okay and not okay. Smiling on the outside and quietly falling apart when we get home.
Mental health is at the forefront of every conversation right now. And yet we are still saying “I’m fine” to the people who deserve our real answer.
These socks are a reason to stop pretending. To show up. To start the conversation that changes everything.
I’ve seen it save lives in my therapy room.
Now I’m putting it on your feet. 🧦🤍

You are already a leader. You just haven’t claimed it yet.
The mother holding the family together — leader. The father showing up without applause — leader. The homemaker running a household with no salary, no sick days, no recognition — one of the most underrated leaders alive.
Leadership is not a title. It is a decision.
And yet most of us are standing at the edge of the life we want — frozen. Not because we lack ability. But because of fear. And because of the loudest, most useless thing in the room — Other people’s opinions.
Those people are not paying your bills. They are not living your life. Stop letting them run it.
Nothing is too late. Flip the switch. Decide. Start today — not January, not Monday, not when things calm down.
Today. 🤍

I know people who have love sitting right beside them every single day. And they are completely alone.
Same bed. Same house. Same table. Zero connection.
And I know people separated by oceans who have never felt closer.
Because physical distance does not separate people.
Silence does.
That one sentence changed my life entirely.
Love is not about the perfect proposal — it is about navigating the imperfections of life together and rests on two pillars — surrender and autonomy. Togetherness and separateness. Both at once.
What they are both saying is this —
Love is not a grand gesture. It is not a scorecard. It is the small things. The consistency. The commitment to seeing your person in all seasons — good, bad, ugly, ordinary.
Love is showing up. Every single day. Not perfectly. But present. 🤍
Are you showing up — or just showing?

What if the life you want is already waiting — and the only thing standing between you and it is you?
That’s the question that started this book. And the answer changed everything for me.
Breaking Out of Yourself is the book I wrote from the most honest place I know — not just as a psychotherapist who has sat with hundreds of people in their hardest moments, but as a human being who has lived every single one of these seven steps myself.
The 7 Steps that will change your life:
1. Wake up — You cannot change a life you haven’t fully seen yet.
2. Face your ego and fear — They are keeping you comfortable. And small. And stuck.
3. Accept where you are — Not as defeat. As the ground you build from.
4. Forgive — Not for them. For the freedom it gives back to you.
5. Choose yourself — The relationship you have with you sets the standard for every relationship in your life.
6. Be courageous — Happiness is not a destination. It is a daily decision.
7. Show up authentically — Stop performing for a world that never needed you to be anyone other than exactly who you are.
You were never broken. You were just ready to break out. 🤍
