A citizen has publicly applauded the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) for its proactive intervention during the Sierra Leone Bar Association (SLBA) Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at the Bintumani International Conference Centre in Freetown, describing the action as a demonstration of professional policing and a commitment to preserving peace and public order.

Reflecting on the tense atmosphere that characterised the event, the citizen observed that good police service is one that acts proactively to prevent violence rather than responding after disorder has erupted.

SLBA Postpones AGM Indefinitely Over Alleged Police Interference

The Sierra Leone Bar Association (SLBA) has indefinitely postponed its Annual General Meeting (AGM), citing what it described as unlawful interference by the Sierra Leone Police. According to the Association, members were prevented from accessing the meeting venue, making it impossible for the AGM to proceed as planned.

For a very long time, have closely watched Jagaban's actions to see whether he is truly honest and consistent with the people he hopes to govern in 2028. The reason is simple: over the years, we have seen many politicians make countless promises that were never fulfilled.

For the first time,we seeing a politician who has started delivering on his promises even before assuming the mantle of leadership. Jagaban, a man who has never held a government position, promised Sierra Leoneans brand-new buses just a few months ago. Today, he has fulfilled that promise by providing 25 brand-new buses to help reduce the transportation challenges facing our people, using his own personal resources.

Usually, only governments provide such a large number of buses, and even that, they are often acquired with support from donor partners. Politics aside, we must acknowledge reality. Jagaban has raised the standard for the 2028 presidential race. It is rare in Sierra Leone's political history to see a presidential aspirant doing so much for the people before taking office.

For years, we have been accustomed to hearing big promises and impressive speeches. Today, actions are beginning to speak louder than words. To the APC, you have been blessed with someone many consider strong presidential material. It is now up to the party to make the right decision. If they fail to value him, another political party may well do so.

Jagaban has won the admiration of many young Sierra Leoneans across political divides. This is not an endorsement, but simply an honest personal observation. hope other politicians aspiring to lead Sierra Leone in 2028 will follow this example—or even do more. The era of saying, "Vote for me and when I come to power, I will do A, B, and C," without showing commitment beforehand, is gradually coming to an end.
