The Sierra Leone Football Association's Launch of the New Football Ecosystem reached its Inception Stage. Attention now turns to the Northwest Region First Division Play-offs.

Ten teams will battle for the four (4) diadem spots in the 2026 First Division League with two-legged knockout matches followed by a one-off decider across Kambia District.

But who will make the celebration go up a tier at the end of this Play-off?

The first Magbema Derby of the Northwest Region Play-off takes place just one game into the District Qualifiers with Konta United hosting Sunday Foundation on Thursday afternoon at the prestigious Masorie Field.

In 2024, Sunday Foundation made headlines as they were named Northwest Regional Champions, a feat that earned them a spot in the National Playoffs in August. It's been a whirlwind of a year, plus Sunday Foundation had only participated in the Kambia District Council Championship since August 2024, raising concerns about whether they could match the *topsy-turvy* of the football Ecosystem.

In 2023, Konta United was the surprise package during the Kambia District FA Cup preliminary phase widely mooted for their impressive style of play under Coach Italian Yoko. Konta United have gone on to compete at different levels with the CAFA Nle 100,000 Gala Competition in Port Loko, recently added to their CV.

Of course, there are more than points up for grabs this Thursday with both sets of supporters desperate to own the bragging rights come the full-time whistle at the Masorie Field.
