I believe that what happened in Wanlaweyn on November 8, 2025, was not just a killing, it was a reflection of how deeply our sense of humanity has faded.
Humanity means feeling the pain of others, protecting the weak, and valuing every human life, regardless of tribe, wealth, or status. But in this incident, those sacred values were replaced by hatred, revenge, and ignorance.
The killing of a mentally ill elder by his own people shows how far society has drifted from moral and spiritual guidance. It challenges our conscience and questions our collective belief in mercy and justice.
I believe that no religion, no culture, and no tradition justifies such cruelty. True faith teaches forgiveness, not vengeance; healing, not harm.
If we are to rebuild Somalia, we must first rebuild our hearts restoring humanity, compassion, and belief in the sacredness of every life.
