New Year Message 2026

On behalf of Aweil South County Youth Association – Malek-alal, we extend our heartfelt New Year wishes to the leadership and people of Aweil South County, NBGS-AWEIL, and to all citizens of the Republic of South Sudan.
As we enter the New Year, we give thanks for the gift of life, unity, and resilience. We remain hopeful that this year will bring peace, development, stability, and greater opportunities, especially for our youth.
We reaffirm our strong commitment to working collaboratively with government institutions, community leaders, and partners to promote youth empowerment, education, peacebuilding, and sustainable development in Aweil South County and beyond.
May this New Year inspire renewed dedication, mutual respect, and collective responsibility as we work together for a better future for our county and our nation.

PUBLIC COMMUNIQUÉ

The Chairperson of Aweil South County Youth Association, Mr. Ronald Thiel Garang Adim, together with his executive leadership, wishes to inform the general public of a productive and forward-looking meeting held with Hon. Ateny Wek Ateny, the Minister for ICT and Postal Services.
The meeting focused on youth activities and the pressing challenges facing young people in Aweil South County, with particular attention given to the urgent need for scholarship opportunities for students who have completed secondary education but are unable to pursue higher learning due to limited resources.
The Youth leadership openly presented key concerns, including limited access to education, unemployment, lack of skills development programs, and inadequate youth empowerment initiatives at the county level. These challenges continue to hinder the full participation of young people in community and national development.
In his response, Hon. Ateny Wek Ateny warmly welcomed the engagement and praised the Youth Association for its leadership and unity. He assured the delegation and the public that he stands with the youth and is committed to supporting initiatives that promote education, scholarships, and sustainable youth development.
The Aweil South County Youth Association expresses its sincere appreciation to Hon. Ateny Wek Ateny for his time, encouragement, and continued support. The Association remains dedicated to working constructively with government institutions and partners to create better opportunities for the youth of Aweil South County.

PUBLIC CONDEMNATION AND CONSTITUTIONAL
CLARIFICATION

The Aweil South County Youths’ Association strongly condemns the continued circulation of false statements and unauthorized claims of leadership, which amount to criminality under our Constitution.
According to Article 13, Sub-Article (2) of the Constitution of the Aweil South County Youths’ Association, all executive powers and authority of the Association are vested in the sitting leadership, which currently rests solely with the Interim Chairperson. Any individual who assumes, exercises, or communicates authority outside this constitutional framework is acting illegally and in violation of the Constitution.
It must be clearly stated to the general public that the individual making such claims is neither the Chairperson nor a recognized leader of the Association, having lost that mandate last year. Therefore, issuing press releases, directives, or public notices in the name of the Association without authority constitutes impersonation, misrepresentation, and criminal conduct as defined by our constitutional provisions.
The lawful Interim Chairperson, Mr. Ronald Thiel Garang Adim, remains the only legitimate authority mandated to lead, represent, and coordinate the affairs of the Aweil South County Youths’ Association. Under his leadership, the Association is actively and constitutionally collaborating with the Northern Bahr el Ghazal State (NBeGS–Aweil) Youth Union to facilitate the proper appointment of a neutral Steering/Preparatory Committee, in line with constitutional requirements.
We therefore urge the public, partners, and stakeholders to disregard all false publications and unauthorized statements and to rely exclusively on communications issued by the Interim Chairperson and recognized constitutional organs of the Association.
The Aweil South County Youths’ Association reaffirms its commitment to constitutionalism, rule of law, peace, and unity, and will take all necessary steps to protect its integrity against deliberate misinformation and illegal actions.

Pre-Seasonal Cattle Migration Movement Conference Held in Wau

Earlier this week, the Chairperson of the Northern Bahr el Ghazal State Youth Union, together with the Chairpersons of the Aweil South County Youth Association and the Aweil Centre County Youth Association, participated in a pre-seasonal cattle movement conference held in Wau, Western Bahr el Ghazal State.
The three-day inter-state conference officially opened on Wednesday and brought together approximately 150 participants from Warrap State, Northern Bahr el Ghazal State, and Western Bahr el Ghazal State. The conference was attended by youth leaders, government officials, traditional leaders, security personnel, and representatives of civil society organizations.
The discussions focused on improving coordination and cooperation among the states to ensure peaceful and well-organized cattle movement ahead of the dry season. Emphasis was placed on conflict prevention, protection of lives and property, and the promotion of peaceful coexistence among pastoralist communities.
This conference marked the 13th inter-state meeting since the signing of the initial agreement aimed at reducing cattle-related conflicts in the region. Participants reaffirmed their commitment to upholding the agreement and working collectively to sustain peace and stability.

Aweil South County Youth Association Chairperson Engages Dominos Club Leaders on Youth Protection Initiatives

The Chairperson of the Aweil South County Youth Association, Mr. Ronald Thiel Garang Adim, held a significant meeting today with the leaders of various Dominos Clubs at Son Hotel. The primary focus of the meeting was to discuss strategies aimed at protecting young people from harmful behaviors and ensuring their positive development.

During the session, Mr. Ronald Thiel expressed deep concern about the growing involvement of youth in political activities, alcohol abuse, and various forms of criminal behavior. He emphasized that such negative influences are major threats to the future of young people and the development of the community as a whole.

The Chairperson urged all Dominos Club leaders to use their influence to promote positive values, discipline, and community responsibility among youth. He highlighted the importance of engaging young people in productive activities such as sports, education, cultural programs, and skill-building workshops.

In response, the Dominos Club leaders acknowledged the challenges faced by the youth and committed to working hand in hand with the Youth Association to guide young people towards a better path. They agreed that preventing early involvement in politics and discouraging substance abuse are critical steps in shaping a responsible and empowered generation.

The meeting concluded with a strong call for unity, cooperation, and continuous dialogue among all stakeholders, including parents, community elders, local authorities, and youth organizations. Together, they aim to build a safer, healthier, and more promising future for the youth of Aweil South County.

Aweil South Football Association -Malek Alel

On 11th September 2025, Mr. Ajuong Akech Deng , Secretary of the Aweil South Football Association, met with Mr. Thiel Garang Adim, Chairperson of the Aweil South County Youth Association, to discuss the Aweil South Inter Payam Peace Tournaments.

During the meeting, Mr. Chairperson expressed his support for our community tournaments, encouraging participation from all nine Payams of Aweil South County. This collaboration will not only promote unity but also help us identify and develop the best players to represent the Aweil South County Football Team in both Aweil and Juba.

The Aweil South Football Association is grateful for Mr. Chairperson's commitment and support. We believe that together, we can make these tournaments a success and foster a spirit of togetherness in our community.

I wish to congratulate and extend my best wishes to South Sudan Citizens

Happy Independence Day is a time to celebrate our freedom and remember the sacrifices made for it. It's a day to honor our freedom fighters and recommit to building a stronger, more united nation. We should reflect on our journey as a nation and strive for a future where the ideals of liberty, equality, and justice are upheld for all.

Good morning, afternoon, evening & night wherever you are.
Today, we are celebrate the 14th anniversary of South Sudan independence . It's a day to remember the long and arduous struggle for freedom, the sacrifices of our brave freedom fighters, and the dawn of a new era for our nation.
South Sudan, once under colonial rule, gained its independence on 9, July 2011. This day is a symbol of our nation's resilience, determination, and unity. We celebrate the courage and sacrifices of those who fought for our freedom, from leaders like Dr. John Garang de Mabior, Our president Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit and all struggle fighters to countless others who stood up against oppression.

As we celebrate, it's also a time for reflection. We must remember that freedom comes with responsibilities. We must uphold the values of democracy, justice, and equality. We must work together to build a nation where every citizen has the opportunity to thrive, regardless of their background.
Let us cherish the freedom we enjoy and strive to make our country a better place for all. Let the spirit of Independence Day inspire us to build a stronger, more prosperous, and more united South Sudan.

Finally, I call on all of us, partners in development, to continue to create platforms and networks that increase participation of our young people in very concrete ways, to continue seeking opportunities and challenging yourselves so as to significantly continue to contribute to a prosperous and peaceful nation.

As we have made commitments to the future we want, I enjoin us to always remember to match our words with concrete effort and actions as we chart this new course.
