Yambio Football Chief Meets Bor Counterpart to Strengthen Local Football

The President of the Yambio Football Association (YFA), Joseph Ndende Ndepi, has met with David Kuol, President of the Bor Football Association, and members of his team during a visit to Bor.

The two football leaders exchanged ideas and experiences on best practices for strengthening local football structures and developing the sport.

Ndepi described the engagement as a valuable opportunity for shared learning, collaboration and a common commitment to growing football in South Sudan.

Yambio Football Association Opens Coaches' Registration for 2026/2027 Season

YAMBIO, 2 August 2026 – The Yambio Football Association (YFA) has opened the registration of football coaches for the 2026/2027 season.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the YFA Coaches Committee said the registration exercise will run from 2 August to 16 August 2026.

The committee urged all coaches wishing to work under the association to register before the deadline.

The registration fee has been set at 20,000 South Sudanese Pounds (SSP).

Interested applicants can obtain further information and register by calling +211 922 806 282, +211 922 886 792, or +211 922 294 404.

The registration is part of the association's preparations for the upcoming football season in Yambio County.

AL WEHIDA FC WOMEN SIGN FIVE PLAYERS AHEAD OF WOMEN'S LEAGUE

Al Wehida FC Women have strengthened their squad by signing five players ahead of the 2026 Yambio Football Association Women's League.

The new signings are Catherine (Tambura County), Eva James from(Maridi), Joy Ngbanrago, Rania John, and Victoria Adia.

Catherine and Eva James signed three-year contracts, while Joy Ngbanrago renewed her contract for another three years.

The club says the new arrivals are part of its preparations to build a strong team for the upcoming women's league competition.

Al Wehida FC Yambio have completed the signings of Jimmy Michael and Toma Luka Jr. on the final day of the 2026 player transfer window as the club continues to strengthen its squad ahead of the upcoming Yambio Local League season.

Jimmy Michael joins Al Wehida FC from his former clubs Villa United FC and Al Merreikh FC Juba after completing a move for an undisclosed transfer fee.

The midfielder has signed a two-year contract with the club.

The club has also secured the services of Toma Luka Jr., who joins from his former clubs Rainbow FC Juba and Villa United FC in another deal

Nile City FC has officially completed the signing of midfielder W***y Poro from St. Mary FC for an undisclosed transfer fee.

The versatile midfielder, known for his ability to play in multiple positions, completed the move on today's transfer deadline day, strengthening Nile City FC ahead of the new season.

𝗝𝗨𝗕𝗔, 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝘂𝗱𝗮𝗻, 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝟯𝟬, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 –The South Sudan Football Federation (SSFF) has issued a final reminder to all Member Football Associations and Premier League clubs to complete their player registrations before the 2026 main registration and transfer window closes today, Thursday.

In a statement, the federation said the deadline is in line with the amended 2025 SSFF General Regulations and stressed that no late or incomplete applications will be accepted after the transfer window closes.

The SSFF urged clubs to submit all required documents as early as possible to avoid delays on the final day of registration.

The required documents include a valid medical examination report, a nationality certificate or other approved identification documents, an International Transfer Certificate (ITC) for international transfers where applicable, an official player release letter where required, and a signed player contract together with all other mandatory registration documents under SSFF regulations.

To accommodate the expected increase in submissions, the SSFF Registration Team will operate on extended working hours from 9:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, July 30.

The federation encouraged all clubs to complete their registration process before the deadline to avoid missing the opportunity to register players for the 2026 football season.

𝗬𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗶𝗼, 𝗪𝗘𝗦 – 𝟮𝟴 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲-The Deputy President of Yambio Football Association, Roto Justin, has praised the spirit of unity, peace, and teamwork that marked the successful conclusion of the 7th edition of the Yambio Inter-Area Football Tournament.

Speaking during the closing ceremony, Roto Justin appreciated the 32 participating areas, government leadership, partners, media houses, match officials, and football fans for contributing to a peaceful and successful tournament.

He highlighted the remarkable transformation of Gbudue Stadium, which was previously covered by bushes, trees, and anthills, before the football community and partners joined efforts to restore the facility through voluntary community work.

Roto Justin appreciated the support and commitment of the Deputy Governor, H.E. Justin Joseph Marona, for encouraging the community cleaning initiative, and thanked the Governor of Western Equatoria State, H.E. Badagbu Daniel Rimbasa, for joining the restoration efforts and approving support to continue improving the iconic stadium.

He said the Yambio Football Association, together with the State Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, will continue working to upgrade and maintain the stadium and other playing grounds while ensuring transparency and accountability.

The Deputy President congratulated the Organizing Committee for successfully completing the tournament and thanked all participating areas for maintaining peace, unity, and sportsmanship throughout the competition.

He also appreciated the contribution of media houses, sports journalists, referees, and match officials for their dedication and commitment to the development of football in Western Equatoria State.

Roto Justin expressed gratitude to Savannah Investment Company Limited for investing in football development in Yambio and supporting the restoration of Gbudue Stadium, while recognizing Fauna and Flora International for promoting environmental conservation through football.

He urged young people and football lovers to avoid rumours, hatred, and regional divisions, emphasizing that football should continue to be a tool for peace, unity, and development.

“Together, let us continue using football to unite our communities and build a better future,” Roto Justin said.

The Yambio Football Association has rejected the decision by the Yambio Inter-Area Football Tournament Organizing Committee to postpone matches and schedule only one game per day during the Round of 16 stage.

Speaking to the media unit of the Yambio Football Association on Sunday, Justin Roto said the association does not support the decision by the organizing committee to have all Round of 16 matches played on a one-game-per-day basis.

Roto explained that the Yambio Inter-Area Football Tournament is a community-based competition and not an official league. He said two matches should continue to be played daily to ensure the tournament is completed on time and to allow teams to prepare for the upcoming South Sudan national league and Yambio Local Football League.

“We cannot agree with this decision by the Yambio Inter-Area Football Tournament Organizing Committee. Two matches should continue to be played starting from tomorrow,” Roto said.

He further urged the organizing committee to work closely with the Yambio Football Association in making decisions related to the tournament to ensure proper coordination, transparency, and the success of the competition.

𝗬𝗔𝗠𝗕𝗜𝗢, 𝗪𝗘𝗦 – 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟮𝟵, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 – The President of the Yambio Football Association (YFA), Joseph Ndepi, has expressed profound sorrow over the tragic death of Coach George Kobo, describing his passing as a devastating loss to the football fraternity and the entire community.

In an official condolence message issued on Monday, Joseph Ndepi said the association joins the family, friends, teammates, and the wider football community in mourning Coach Kobo, who was fatally shot on Sunday, June 28, 2026, in Yambio.

The YFA President described Coach George Kobo as a passionate, dedicated, and promising young football coach who was serving as the head coach of Naduru Residential Area and actively participating in the ongoing Yambio Inter-Area Tournament before his untimely death.

"His passing is a great loss and a heavy blow to the entire football family. We have lost a committed young coach whose contribution to football was remarkable and whose passion for the game inspired many," the statement reads.

Beyond coaching, Coach Kobo was remembered for his outstanding service as a player, having represented Al Wehida Football Club, St. Mary Football Club, and the Western Equatoria State team in national competitions. His dedication and love for football earned him respect across the sporting community.

To honor his memory, the Yambio Football Association has declared three days of official mourning. During this period, a moment of silence will be observed before all matches organized under the association as a mark of respect for the late coach.

President Joseph Ndepi also called upon the football fraternity, friends, and the community to unite in supporting Coach Kobo's family and ensuring he is accorded a dignified burial.

"Though he is gone, his legacy will continue to live on through the many lives he touched and the lasting impact he made in football. May the Almighty grant him eternal rest, and may his soul rest in peace until we meet again," the statement concluded.
