Sad news
Tragic hit Catholic Diocese of Rumbek (CDOR) this morning as FR. Andrea Osman Okello passed on. According to the news from the Catholic Church in Rumbek, Father Andrea collapsed and died at the Church's door while he was going for morning prayers at 6: 30 Am today 13th May 2026.
The church has not yet released the cause of death as the body was transfered to Kiir Mayardit Hospital for examination.

Makuei Leaves Opposition Judgment To Public.
South Sudan’s Minister of Justice and constitutional affairs , Michael Makuei Lueth, has called on the public to judge opposition lawmakers after members of the SPLM-IO boycotted a parliamentary sitting where amended chapters of the Revitalized Peace Agreement (R-ARCSS) were scheduled to be presented.
Speaking after the session was disrupted, Makuei criticized the walkout and said the matter should now be left for citizens to assess.

The ruling National Resistance Movement and South Sudan’s Sudan People’s Liberation Movement have signed a cooperation agreement to boost political collaboration, regional integration and socio-economic development between the two parties.
The deal was signed during a meeting at the NRM headquarters in Kampala, where leaders described it as a continuation of the long-standing historical ties between Uganda and South Sudan.
NRM Secretary General Richard Todwong said the relationship between the two nations is rooted in shared history, blood ties and liberation struggles.
The SPLM Secretary General Dr. Akol Paul warmly received in Kampala by the NRM party leadership ahead of the presidential inauguration celebrations of President-elect Yoweri Museveni, marking a show of strong party-to-party relations between Uganda and South Sudan.
SPLM Says It Is in R-TGoNU, Ready for National Elections.
JUBA, South Sudan Simon Kun Puoch SPLM 3rd Deputy Chairman declared on Saturday that the ruling Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) is no longer bound by the Revitalized Peace Agreement (R-ARCSS) and is fully prepared to participate in national elections.
Mr. Puoch made the remarks during a gathering of Lakes State SPLM cadres in Juba celebrating the appointment of Akol Paul Kordit as SPLM Secretary General and praising Salva Kiir Mayardit for endorsing his appointment.
Breaking News: Opposition lawmakers from the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-in-Opposition on Monday boycotted a parliamentary sitting, accusing the government of violating the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan by pushing through amendments without consensus from all peace partners. The legislators claimed the process excluded SPLM-IO representatives and breached procedures outlined in the peace accord, deepening tensions within the transitional government.
SPLM Official Appeals to Armed Groups to Return Home for Elections.
Cde .Simon Kun Puoch has called on armed opposition groups and South Sudanese living abroad to return home and take part in elections, saying President Salva Kiir Mayardit does not believe in killing people.
Mr Puoch made the remarks on Saturday during a gathering of Lakes State SPLM cadres in Juba to celebrate the appointment of Akol Paul Kordit as the party’s Secretary General.
“I appeal to those holding arms in Europe, America and Africa to come back home and participate in elections. Nobody will kill you here because we are brothers,” he said.
The SPLM 3rd deputy chairman defended President Kiir, describing him as a leader who values human life and refuses to approve death sentences.
Mr Puoch said that in 2012 he presented the President with a list of 28 prisoners sentenced to death by the courts, but President Kiir refused to authorise the executions and instead reduced the sentences to life imprisonment.
“He told me, ‘Simon, I cannot authorise the death of somebody,’” Mr Puoch said.
At the same time, he criticised corruption in the country, saying some people accused of stealing public money were escaping punishment.
He urged leaders to manage the country’s resources properly and focus on improving the lives of people suffering in states, counties and payams across South Sudan.
