Governor Lobong Takes Swift Action After Violent Group Arrests

Torit, Eastern Equatoria State, 4th April, 2026 - The Governor of Eastern Equatoria State, Louis Lobong Lojore, conducted an inspection visit to Al Giada, Torit Military Garrison, where a group of individuals apprehended for causing a public disturbance on Friday, 3 April 2026, are being held.

Over 50 individuals, including 14 girls, were arrested after reportedly causing disorder in Torit, carrying sharp objects such as machetes and pangas. Acting on a resolution of the State Government, Governor Lobong directed corrective measures: the boys are to be transferred to Juba for rehabilitation services, while the girls will be held at the State Prison for a minimum of twenty days, pending parental intervention.

Governor Lobong emphasized that the State Council of Ministers has resolved that anyone involved in violent acts will face immediate arrest and corrective action. He urged parents to actively follow up with their children, particularly those being transferred to Juba.

The Governor reassured the public that these measures aim to restore safety and order in Torit while giving the individuals an opportunity to receive proper correction and rehabilitation.
