The Matches Review|Tonj South communities Olympics|First Edition 2025-2026

As we are almost heading to the highly anticipated final between Thony Community and Bongo Community, what are your thoughts about the toughest final between the two sisterly communities? We expect a peaceful and calm play among the two competitors.

The Tonj South communities Olympics was formed in the earlier December 2025, purposely and interestedly to bring the five communities together, marking a celebration of unity, peace and reconciliation in Tonj South County.

We reject the bloodshed and senseless killings of our energetic and productive youth. The communities have seen enough pain from past communal conflicts—now it's time for sportsmanship.

Thony and Bongo, two sisterly communities with a history, are ready to showcase their strength, not through violence, but through sports. The match is expected to be peaceful, with both teams focusing on the spirit of competition and unity.

The Tonj South Communities Olympics is more than just a tournament - it's a step towards healing, reminding everyone of the power of togetherness. Let's cheer on both teams and celebrate peace.

Subject: Resolution on the abandoned match—Tonj South communities Olympics

The Tonj South Football Association (TSFA), together with the Tonj South communities Olympics organising committee (TSCO), wishes to inform all the concerned stakeholders of the resolutions reached following the abandonment of the match between Thony Community Football Team and Muok Community Football Team during the second half due to serious threats made by fans against match officials. An emergency meeting was held at Tonj Sports Office from 10:00 AM to 11:50 Am, attended by team presidents, coaches, community leadership and match officials during which official reports were carefully reviewed. It was established that the match started peacefully but later became difficult to control after the central referee was intimidated by players and spectators, followed by credible threats to assault match officials and the absence of an immediate security response, leading to the match being abandoned for safety reasons.

In accordance with the laws of the games and the competition regulations, it was resolved that;

1. The match shall resume from the 45th minute of the second half with the same scoreline and disciplinary records and shall be played on 8th January 2026 exactly at 8:00 AM at Tonj Freedom Square.

2. The two identified individuals who threatened the match officials, both members of the security organs shall be reported to their respective units for appropriate actions.

3. Adequate security shall be provided during the match.

4. And the central referee who was threatened shall be replaced by another official as mutually agreed by both team presidents.

Note: These resolutions are final and binding and must be respected by all parties in the interest of fair play, safety and respect for match officials.

🚨 The Tonj South Football Association (TSFA) informs the public that the match between Thony Community Football Team vs Muok Community Football Team, played on 6th January 2026 at Tonj Freedom Square under the Tonj South Communities Olympics, was abandoned during the second half due to serious threats against match officials.

At the time of abandonment, the score was 2–0 in favor of Thony Community Football Team.

The decision was taken by the referee in accordance with the FIFA Laws of the Game, with the safety of referees and match officials as the top priority.

TSFA strongly condemns any form of threats or violence against referees and officials. Such actions go against the spirit of football, peace, and unity.

The matter is under review, and a final decision on the match and any disciplinary actions will be communicated officially.

We urge all players, fans, and communities to uphold peace, respect, and sportsmanship at all times.

The event is expected to be a thrilling display of strength, skill, and community spirit, with all four communities participating in the games.
