Ubuntu Rising: Eswatini to Host Historic Inaugural Ubuntu Tri-Nations T20I Series 2026
Cricket in Southern Africa is set for a landmark moment as the Eswatini Cricket Association proudly announces the inaugural Ubuntu Tri-Nations T20I Series 2026 scheduled to take place from 2-7 June 2026 at the Malkerns Country Club Oval.
The historic tournament will feature three emerging African cricket nations: Eswatini, Lesotho, and Mozambique in what promises to be an exciting week of international T20I cricket, cultural unity, and regional friendship.
More Than Cricket- The Meaning of “Ubuntu”
The name Ubuntu carries a powerful African philosophy that perfectly captures the spirit of this tournament. Ubuntu is commonly understood through the expression:
“I am because we are.”
It represents humanity, togetherness, respect, unity and collective growth. Through this tournament, the Eswatini Cricket Association aims to use cricket as a platform to strengthen bonds between neighboring African nations while promoting sportsmanship and friendship beyond the boundary ropes.
The Ubuntu Tri-Nations T20I Series is not simply a cricket competition, it is a celebration of African identity, cooperation and the shared vision of growing the game across the continent.
A New Chapter for African Cricket
Over the years, Eswatini Cricket Association has successfully hosted both Lesotho and Mozambique in separate men’s bilateral T20I series. Those encounters helped strengthen cricketing relationships within the region and created memorable moments for players and supporters alike.
The introduction of the Ubuntu Tri-Nations T20I Series now marks a major step forward, bringing all three nations together under one prestigious international event for the very first time.
Fans can expect competitive cricket, rising African talent, unforgettable moments and an atmosphere that reflects the warmth and unity of Southern Africa.
A Signature Tournament for Eswatini Cricket
The Ubuntu Tri-Nations T20I Series is set to become a signature tournament for the Eswatini Cricket Association. The vision is to establish the event as an annual or recurring international competition that will continue to grow in stature and attract wider regional and international attention in the years ahead.
By creating this tournament, ECA is reinforcing its commitment to:
Expanding international cricket opportunities for African Associate Members
Strengthening regional cricket partnerships
Developing local talent through high-level competition
Promoting Eswatini as a destination for international cricket
Using sport to unite communities and nations
The tournament also highlights the growing ambition of Eswatini cricket and the country’s dedication to contributing meaningfully to the development of cricket in Africa.
The Stage Is Set
As the countdown begins, one thing is certain:
the inaugural Ubuntu Tri-Nations T20I Series 2026 will be remembered as the beginning of a bold new tradition, one built on competition, friendship and the true spirit of Ubuntu.

WHEN DEFEAT SPEAKS LOUDER THAN VICTORY, STAND WITH TEAM ESWATINI
Cricket, like life is a journey of highs and lows and Team Eswatini is living that reality on the international stage in Accra, Ghana.
Our campaign at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub Regional Africa Qualifier B began on a high note, with a 27-run victory over St Helena, a performance that showcased the heart, discipline and fighting spirit of our players.
However, in our second match, we faced a tough challenge against a very strong Tanzanian side, currently the highest-ranked team in the group. The result was not what we had hoped for as we suffered a heavy defeat. We acknowledge the disappointment this has caused among our supporters and no one feels it more than the players and technical team themselves.
With three crucial matches still to play, beginning with tomorrow’s encounter against Malawi, Team Eswatini remains focused, determined and united. The opportunity to compete, grow and fight for a top-two finish is still alive.
These men are not just representing themselves, they are carrying the pride of a nation, learning, adapting and gaining invaluable experience on a highly competitive international platform.
Let us rally behind them.
Let us uplift rather than discourage.
Let us believe together.
Tomorrow is another opportunity. Another fight. Another chance to rise.
