Wako Mediterranean

The first WAKO Mediterranean Kickboxing Championship was held in Istanbul between May 15-19, 2024 with the participation of 835 athletes from 10 WAKO Mediterranean member countries. WAKO Mediterranean Championship was held in Istanbul Tuyap Congress Center in four different disciplines: K1 Style, Kick Light, Point Fighting and Forms. WAKO IF President Mr. Roy Baker and WAKO Mediterranean President Mr. Salim Kayıcı watched the championship on site and thanked all the participants and gave medals to the ranked athletes. WAKO Mediterranean President Mr. Salim Kayıcı gave a good news to the whole WAKO Family in his statement. "WAKO Mediterranean Championship organized for the first time in Turkiye was a very important step for Kickboxing. I would like to give the following good news from here Kickboxing was accepted as a demonstration sport for the Mediterranean Games to be held in Taronto, Italy in 2026. This success belongs to all of us, I congratulate the WAKO Family."

Wako Mediterranean Executive Boards Members Meeting was held online under the chairmanship of Salim KAYICI. Important decisions have been made on behalf of Mediterranean Continental Kickboxing.

Wako Pro Mediterranean Belt Championship was held in Izmir for the first time. In the two-belt championship, 🇹🇷 Turkish Athlete Şuayb Acar won the Low Kick 66.8 Kg belt, while Italian Mattia Amatuzio 🇮🇹 won the Full Contact 69.1 Kg belt.

I congratulate both athletes. Wako Pro Mediterranean Belt Championships will continue. I would like to thank those who contributed to the excellent organization.

Yesterday evening i was saddened by the loss of my dear friend Abdul Karim Al-Hilali, President of the Royal Moroccan Muay Thai and Kickboxing University, and Vice President of the Arab Kickboxing Federation.

This is the sad loss of the sport of Kickboxing. He was a very kind human being, good friend, and successful sportsman.

I extend my deepest condolences to the entire Sports Community and the grieving family.
